Tyson Fury: Excitement Palpable Ahead Of Klitschko Challenge

After the two camps came to a last minute agreement ahead of the scheduled purse bid, we now know that Tyson Fury is to get his opportunity to become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, when he fights dominant Ukrainian champion Wladimir Klitschko on October 24th in Germany.

Following the confirmation, both Tyson and his trainer and Uncle, Peter, took to twitter to express their excitement ahead of getting down to the rigours of a long, hard training camp, for which they will base themselves in Ireland.

Following the tweet from the WBA (who also installed Fury as mandatory alongside the WBO) that confirmed an agreement had been reached privately between K2 and Hennessy Sports, Peter wrote;

“Now deal done you will see @Tyson_Fury train like a spartan & fight like one. He will make British & Irish very proud. That’s a fact.”

For his own part, Fury, who will no doubt be receiving a career high payday, has taken to his own colourful twitter account, to voice both his excitement at a lifelong dream being within touching distance, as well as to insult the champ in his own inimitable style.

Some of the highlights are below;

“I promise I won’t do @mrdavidhaye & sh** myself! I’ll ko this super champ. I don’t talk unless I can back it up.”

Followed by;

“Just lay on my bed. Can’t sleep am so excited about finally getting my shot. It’s been a long time in the making, highs & lows but kept strong.”

And today, as the news filters through, other contenders in the division have begun to speak out, with Australian heavy Lucas Browne tweeting “a Wlad ko in 8”, after being asked for a prediction from one of his followers.

It didn’t escape Fury’s notice, who wrote rather humourously in reply;

“U wish. Wlad couldn’t bang a wa** out, never mind the gypsy king! Fancy some sparring?”

There was even a back-handed goodwill message from WBC champion Deontay Wilder, who wrote;

“You know I’m ready for you whenever….Good luck in your fight bro……you’ll need it.”

Either way, the countdown has begun for Fury’s army of followers, thousands of which will no doubt be making the short trip across to mainland Europe and Germany in October.

It’s already a classic head vs heart encounter, with the common sense and consensus opinion being that Wladimir will eventually have too much for the 6 ft 9″ Brit and secure a stoppage in the latter stages of the fight – as he has to so many who came before.

However, with his natural size advantage, and the incredibly shrewd Peter Fury sure to be honing an in-depth and precise fight plan, the new, mature Tyson Fury – who has fixed many of his flaws of old – surely has the best chance of any of the recent pretenders to Wladimir’s throne?

It is heavyweight boxing after all…and ANYTHING can happen.

Roll on October!
