Iraq War Veteran, Chris Traietti scored a six round knockout over Dion Stanley as the referee stopped the bout at 1:11 after Traietti landed several combinations that had Stanley down for the second time in the fight, the other knockdown was in the fifth round.

Traietti dominated this cruiserweight bout throughout as he landed at will and almost had Stanley down several other times in the fight due to his powerful punches. Stanley, despite being out matched, hung in there, absorbed a great deal of punishment, but still try to make it a fight.

“I was pleased with my performance tonight,”  said Traietti. “I wanted to get in some rounds in and I did that.  I executed our fight plan well and was able to wear down a tough boxer in Stanley who came here to win and I took him out late in the fight and obtain the victory.”

“The Roxy Homecoming Celebration” was presented by Big Six Entertainment in association with Danny Kelly Promotions and Cappiello Boxing at a near full capacity crowd at the Royale Nightclub in Boston, Massachusetts.

Traietti, from Quincy, Massachusetts improved his record to 14-3, 10KOs while Stanley from Kansas City, Missouri fell to 11-6, 7KOs. Traietti has won four consecutive fights this year, the others coming against Tyler Seever, Dennis Ogboo and Michael Scarborough, all by knockouts and has won five of his last six bouts.  This was his first eight round fight of his professional career.

“All the credit for tonight’s performance and for my success this year goes to my trainer, Jimmy Farrell because he`s a great teacher who pushes me to become the best fighter I can be and always comes up with a great fight plan that allows me to easily defeat my opponents,” said Traietti.

He`ll be back in action on August 24th, against Jonathan Corn (47-26-3, 26KOs) at the SportsZone in Derry, New Hampshire for a six round bout, his fifth fight of the year.  Traietti will be facing an experience boxer in Corn; as he increases his level of competition, improves his boxing skills and works his way down to the light heavyweight division.

“I want to continue to stay active for the rest of 2013 and then look for a significant fight in 2014 like a rematch with Joe McCreedy,” said  Traietti. “We both want to face each other next year and it would be a great fight that boxing fans would enjoy.”

In a battle of unbeaten fighters in the light welterweight division, Puerto Rican invader, Jonathan Perez, 5-0, 3KOs kept his undefeated record intact as he garnered a first round knockout over Boston`s Gabriel Duluc. Duluc was controlling the round until Perez landed a left hook that had Duluc on the canvas. He was slow to get up, however he just beat the ten count, but the referee didn`t believe he did and stopped the fight at 3:00 of the first round. Duluc with the loss fell to 8-1, 1KO.  He was irate at the stoppage and had to be calm down by his team.

John “Buncrana Banger” Hutchinson and Robert Brando-Hunt battled to a second round no contest in their four round light middleweight bout as the ring doctor stopped the fight with 59 seconds left in the second round as she determined that Hunt`s cut above his right eye, from an accidental head-butt,  was to bad for him to continue. This was a valid stoppage as blood was streaming down Hunt`s face.  Hutchinson from Boston, Massachusetts by way of Ireland is 3-0-1, 1KO and has a no decision for the second straight fight while Hunt from Hyannis, Massachusetts is 0-3-1.

Rashidi “The Prince” Ellis, the 2012 National Police Athletic League Champion got his professional debut off to a good start as he defeated 20 fight veteran “Steamin” Josh Beeman by way of a four round unanimous decision with two scores of 40-36 and the other score being 39-37. Ellis from Lynn, Massachusetts is 1-0 while Beeman from Providence, Rhode Island dropped to 4-13-3, 2KOs. Ellis who is only 20 years old is getting a great of hype due his amateur success and he didn`t disappoint as he controlled the fight, landed whenever he wanted and almost had Beeman knockdown a couple of times in this welterweight bout.  He displayed great speed, jab, foot and ring movement and although it has only been one fight and not against the best competition, Ellis is a boxer to look out for in the future. Beeman came to fight as he hung in there and absorbed a great deal of punishment and kept throwing throughout the fight, but was outmatched by Ellis.

Pubilo Pena earned his first professional victory over Jimmy Cappiello as the ringside doctor stopped the bout after the second round in this super middleweight fight as she determined that Cappiello couldn`t continue due to a cut over his right eye.  It was an extremely premature stoppage since the cut was not bloody. Pena from Providence, Rhode Island is 1-1 as he controlled this fight for the first two rounds, while Cappiello from Somerville, Massachusetts, who fought his first bout since 2000, fell to 4-4-2, 1KO.

Brockton, Massachusetts boxers , Greg Vendetti and Antonio Chaves Fernandes battled to a four round draw in their welterweight bout, in a fight that the judges somehow scored horribly wrong. Vendetti is 3-0-1, 2KOs while Fernandes is 2-11-2. Vendetti dominated the fight, landed at will and knockdown Fernandes twice in the first round from right hands while Fernandes landed nothing of significant in the bout. Scores were 40-36 for Vendetti, 38-37 for Fernandes and 37-37.

Joe Powers from Groton, Connecticut picked up his first professional victory by way of a third round technical knockout in his light heavyweight bout against Mical Weisberg. The fight was stopped at the end of third round because the ringside doctor determined that Weisberg`s cut above his left eye was too bad for him to continue to fight. It was an extremely bad stoppage since the cut was not deep.  Powers is 1-1, 1KO while Weisberg from Stoughton, Massachusetts, dropped to 3-1, 2KOs.
