The Doors Are Closing For David Price / No Chance Of Joshua Fight

Last weekend in Germany the rebuilding of David Price failed spectacularly when he was knocked out cold by German based Turk, Erkan Teper, ostensibly ending any hopes he ever had of reaching world level.

The former Olympic medalist has never really recovered from the two devastating, back-to-back losses to Tony Thompson in 2013, and following the fight there were murmurings that he could still provide a credible test for some of the young British heavyweights coming through, such as Hughie Fury or Anthony Joshua.

However, in his latest chat with iFLtv, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has rubbished any chance of that fight happening, insisting that “something’s not right” with the giant 6ft 9″ scouser and that he simply cannot envision a Price v Joshua match-up any longer.

“David Price is such a lovely bloke, you could never say a bad word about him, but something’s not right. And you could see that from the first round – and then the knockout punch? – something’s not right” Hearn said.

“I don’t know about his future in boxing. I’ve nothing to do with it and really it’s none of my business to be honest with you – but if you’re asking my opinion, Erkan Teper’s not a world beater. Of course he can punch, but (Price) in a ring with an Anthony Joshua? – that’d be really dangerous.

“And not because he’s not a good heavyweight, ’cause he is a good heavyweight. But something’s not right and I don’t know if that’s long term, short term, fixable, whatever – so Price/Joshua is not a fight you could look at right now for sure.”
