New Russian citizen and long faded modern great, Roy Jones Jr, has confirmed that he will fight Welsh former cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli on November 28th in the former Soviet state, as he continues his quest for an elusive Cruiserweight world title.

Maccarinelli, now 35, is penciled in to box on October 10th in Newport, Wales in a scheduled 8 round contest on a Warrior Promotions card against a TBA opponent, although Jones is under the impression that the Welshman will be boxing for a title – a title he told TMZ.com that will be on the line when the two eventually square off in November.

“Big Mac” is mandatory challenger to the EBU 175 lb title currently held by Frenchman, Medhi Amar, and this week stated he was looking to use the October 8 rounder to ‘blow away a few cobwebs,’ before moving back down for the challenge, also stating that he would love to be given a shot at either of the two world champions at 175 lb – Sergey Kovalev and Adonis Stevenson.

“Kovalev and Stevenson are beasts. If I make a mistake against them then they are going to put me to sleep,” he said honestly. “But I reckon I can put them to sleep too.”

It is unclear what the exact situation regarding the October 10th Newport date is at time of writing as Maccarinelli has yet to comment, although Jones is pursuing the WBO route to any potential 200 lb title, eyeing new champion Krysztof Glowacki after he recently dethroned long time champion, Marco Huck.
