Former WBA 122 lb champion, Guillermo Rigondeaux has confirmed his delight at signing with new handlers, Roc-Nation Sports and issued a warning shot to divisional rivals, Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg, saying ‘I’ll blow you off the face of the earth.’

The Cuban former amatuer standout steps out for the first time in almost a year on the undercard of the Cotto/Canelo HBO PPV card, facing Filipino, Drian Francisco, in a hastily put together fight that will showcase the avoided technician’s skills as he works toward reclaiming the WBA/WBO titles stripped from him recently for inactivity.

“I’m really happy to be on board with the Roc-Nation family and I’m happy they gave me this opportunity,” he told iFLtv via translator, regarding Saturday’s fight.

“I’m ready for this chance to put on a show and entertain the fans. I like to always show a different style of boxing so the fans should stay tuned for what’s coming next,” he added.

While many fans are keen to see Rigondeaux face fellow former 2x Olympic gold medalist and WBO 126 lb champ, Vasyl Lomachenko, it would seem the Cuban star is keen to stay at 122 and reclaim his old titles, starting with the top tier WBA belt gifted to Britain’s Scott Quigg.

Quigg was upgraded to ‘super’ champion status with the WBA following Rigondeaux’s stripping, and attempts to unify when he faces IBF champion, Carl Frampton next February.

For his part, Rigondeaux is dismissive of the situation.

“They [Quigg/Framton] should put those belts in a museum or something as they don’t want to fight me. The [WBA] belt is really my belt. I respect them, they’re good boxers but I’m ready to face them and I’ll blow them off the face of the earth if they ever step in the ring with me.

“Whoever has any belts had better beware as I’m coming for those titles. I will destroy them all. The Daddy has returned!,” he added.
