Both the rescheduled WBO middleweight clash between Andy Lee and Billy Joe Saunders and the massive WBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight clash between Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury, are set to have their new dates revealed very shortly.

The Lee/Saunders fight has been beset with bad luck, suffering two separate postponements – firstly due to a virus suffered by Lee, and then a cut sustained by Saunders in sparring that prompted date and venue shifts from Ireland to England/September to October, and a new date is finally set to be announced on Monday after Saunders was given the all-clear by medics.

Writing on social media last night, along with a screenshot of his boxrec page, Saunders wrote;

“That’s how it’s done! New date Monday #ANDTHENEW #WBO”

As for the Klitschko/Fury clash, the dominant heavyweight champ has had the calf-strain he suffered in the aftermath of last week’s entertaining London presser assessed by world renowned physician, Dr. Hans Muller-Wohlfahrt, and is expected to announce a revised date for the fight tomorrow, according to various sources.

There has been a difference of opinion across social media as to the legitimacy of the injury suffered by Klitschko, with recently retired super-middleweight champion Carl Froch being one of the most high-profile names to weigh in on the issue, speculating that the champion may be playing mind games with Fury in order to unsettle his preparations.

Fury’s long-time promoter Mick Hennessy revealed that the two camps are looking at a November date for the clash, which is expected will still take place at Dusseldorf’s ESPRIT Arena on either the 21st or the 28th, and that the champions meeting with Dr. Muller-Wohlfahrt had been ‘optimistic.’
