Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment: “Prichard Colon became symptomatic in his dressing room following his bout with Terrel Williams Saturday afternoon at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, VA. Within moments, he was under the care of EMTs and was rushed to Inova Fairfax Hospital. He suffered a brain bleed as a result of an injury during the bout and underwent immediate surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. His condition remains critical. Prichard’s family has requested that their privacy be respected at this time. Updates will be provided when appropriate. We ask that everyone join us in praying for Prichard and his family.”

Puerto Rican welterweight prospect, Prichard Colon, has undergone emergency surgery for brain injuries suffered in Saturday’s clash with Terrel Williams in Fairfax, Virginia, and is reportedly in a coma.

Colon was involved in a foul-fuelled fight with Williams on the Premier Boxing Champions card, that saw him lose two points for an intentional low blow, as well as seeing him visibly complain after a shot to the back of the head from the American, who also lost a point for rabbit punching.

After touching down twice in the 9th, Colon was eventually disqualified after his corner cut off his gloves at the end of the round, an action that may prove crucial in terms of saving his life given he was heard complaining of dizziness, before then vomiting in the dressing room afterwards and passing out.

He was immediately rushed to Inova Fairfax hospital, whereby shortly afterwards PBC issued the following message on their twitter feed;

“UPDATE Colon has emergency surgery 2 relieve pressure on brain injuries suffered in tonight’s fight. Please pray.”

A message from Colon’s representative, Alan Obrador, was also uploaded to the fighter’s Facebook page, reading;

“I know you’re concerned about the health of Prichard. I have just spoken with his mother and he is recovering after bleeding on the left side of his brain.

“We will keep you informed of any developments in this way. We ask for prayers for the speedy recovery of Prichard.”
