After what was supposed to be a farewell fight back in March – a low key 6 rounder he won on points – veteran Australian Michael Katsidis announced recently that he was keen to box on.

Katsidis, who was involved in many memorable fights with the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez, Joel Casamayor and Graham Earl, will box Kaewfah Tor Buamas in a 10-rounder on Sept. 12 at Yu Hang Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China.

“What a great sport boxing is,” Katsidis said. “It’s given me so much and now once again I have an opportunity of a lifetime. I get to return to the ring.” he said officially announcing.

Katsidis, who is days shy of his 35th birthday, was most recently seen by British fans getting destroyed inside two rounds by Hull’s Tommy Coyle last October.

His Thai opponent has a 19-0 slate, although 12 of those wins were against fighters making their debut, and of the others, only one had a winning record.

Katsidis, who has now returned to his native country full time after living and training abroad for some years, has another fight penciled in for October after the Tor Buamas fight, and is realistic of the level he is operating at these days.

“If I don’t win, that’s life,” Katsidis said. “It won’t change the person I have become since returning to Toowoomba.”

Liu Gang, who will promote in China, said;

“It’s an honor to have Michael Katsidis fight on this card. Michael is a worldwide name and to have him fight in China with a full gymnasium and a TV audience.

“I met Michael on my recent trip to Toowoomba (Australia) and he looked in great shape, so I know he will be a crowd pleaser over here.”
