This afternoon in the scorching hot humidity of South Florida, fight fans gathered outdoors at Bayfront Park in Miami, FL as the

Mayweather vs. Canelo press tour rolled into town.
Boxing’s biggest event and PPV ever “THE ONE: MAYWEATHER VS. CANELO” will take place this September 14th 2013 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and live on SHOWTIME PPV.

Floyd “Money” Mayweather 44-0 (26 KO’s) will be taking on 22 year old Mexican boxing superstar sensation Canelo Alvarez 42-0-1 (30 KO’s). Both fighters’ undefeated records will be on the line for this WBC & WBA Super Welterweight World Championship clash.

Starting out the press conference was Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer followed by Mayweather Promotions Leonard Ellerbe, Stephen Espinosa of Showtime Sports, and Oscar De La Hoya.

Schaefer referred to Canelo as a Mexican James Dean, Mexico’s newest and biggest boxing attraction. He mentioned that tickets (ranging from $2,000 to $350) for the fight sold out the first day that they went on sale. He encouraged all fight fans to get together September 14th have a barbeque make an event out of it and order the Showtime PPV.

When Oscar De La Hoya Canelo’s promoter took the podium he started out by speaking in Spanish to the overwhelming Latin bilingual crowd on hand. He mentioned that Canelo is a Latino boxing champion representing all Latin’s and encouraged Latino fans to back him up. To the praise of the fans on hand.
Then Canelo looking like a movie star took the stage graciously thanking everyone involved and the fans stating that he is representing all Latinos and that he is ready, he has waited for this moment, and that he will be victorious.

Boxing’s biggest recognizable superstar nowadays and the one that fight fans came to get a glimpse of “Money” Mayweather took the stage next thanking Canelo for taking the fight, the promoters and Showtime for making it happen and all the sponsors involved. He stated that Mexico has always had a fine tradition of outstanding boxers and Canelo is the latest one and that he looked forward to the fight on September 14th, putting on a good show and winning the fight.

After the press conference I asked Canelo if while he was growing up and boxing at a young age if he ever thought that one time he would be fighting on boxing’s biggest PPV ever. He responded that he always felt he would reach a big stage in his boxing career, that he always wanted to go the highest possible in his boxing career.

For one day in the South Florida summer heat boxing reigned king and this event seems like the real deal that Mayweather and Canelo will put on a show come September 14th and all boxing fans should embrace and be a part of this event.
