Mayweather: Maidana is a B level fighter

WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) plans on showing the boxing world the difference between an A-level fighter and a B-level fighter this Saturday night on September 13th in his rematch against #2 WBA, #3 WBC Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather points out that Maidana won only 3 rounds the last time he fought him last May and this was with Mayweather choosing to purposefully fight his type of fight by electing to punch with him with his back against the ropes instead of staying in the center of the ring like he normally does against his opponents.

This time Mayweather says he’s going to box Maidana and show him what the real Mayweather is like.

“You know you [Maidana] lost. There’s a difference between A-level fighters and B level fighters. I can make adjustments always. I kick [expletive] for a living. That’s what I do.”

I don’t think you’re going to get too many boxing fans that will argue with Mayweather that Maidana’s not a B-level fighter, but he’s still a dangerous guy due to his punching power and his wild and unorthodox fighting style.

Maidana has the punching power and the aggression to give Mayweather a difficult time on Saturday, especially if Mayweather makes the mistake of thinking he can fight against the ropes the entire 12 rounds.

If Mayweather does that again, he could very well lose the fight if Maidana’s stamina is in fact improved from the last time they fought. Maidana has certainly been working at improving his stamina, and now we’re going to see if he actually has.

Mayweather said “When someone said you can make $100 million boxing, I said ‘You will become the best.’ If it’s something that don’t pay, I can mess up a million times. Once you put that check in my face and I see the fight zeros, I’m going to be a perfectionist.”
