Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) lost his cool on Tuesday during a stare down with WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) by twice shoving him hard when the two of them came face to face during their press event for Mayhem on PPV at six flags Fiesta Texas.

Mayweather seemed genuinely shocked at being shoved by Maidana, and then gave him an even bigger shove that drove Maidana clear across the stage. Maidana came back and shoved Mayweather a final time as if to even the score. While some people will no doubt this this was a staged event, it didn’t look that way to me.

Mayweather looked angry that Maidana chose to bully him on stage by shoving him hard when he was just trying to do a simple stare down with the Argentinian fighter. For whatever reason Maidana didn’t look like he wanted any part of Mayweather crowding him.

Mayweather said that he wants to knock Maidana out to put him in his place when they face each other on September 13th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s been three years since Mayweather scored a knockout when he stopped Victor Ortiz in the 4th.

Mayweather only has two knockouts in the last seven years. It’s not exactly a good indication that he’ll be able to KO Maidana, but it’s definitely possible if Mayweather puts his punches together and overwhelms Maidana with shots to the head and body. No one has knocked out Maidana before so Mayweather would be the first to accomplish that task.

Mayweather is concerned with Maidana’s fouling and he wants the referee to do his job this time. But Mayweather is probably going to need to take things into his own hands by looking for a quick knockout because there’s not too many referees that are going to be willing to put attention on themselves by taking points away from Maidana in a fight this big.
“I have to watch this guy in there. He’s dirty,” Mahyweather said. “He knows he can’t beat me.
