Koncz: “We’re giving this [Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations] until the end of the month”

History has proven, that negotiations between team Mayweather Jr. and team Pacquiao mean very little. After numerous attempts, the result has always yielded zero progress.

This time around, Mayweather Jr. called out Pacquiao in the most direct fashion thus far, by naming the date he is willing to fight. After a consistent back-and-forth between the two fighters via various social media outlets, according to Bob Arum the negotiations are slowly moving forward.

Still, it seems as though team Pacquiao is not willing to play this game for too long, wasting time and losing an opportunity to secure another big fight if need be.

“We’re waiting for word from Floyd. We’re giving this until the end of the month,” stated Koncz.

While it is impossible to say what role and what authority Koncz has on team Pacquiao, it appears as though they might be waiting on team Mayweather Jr. to accept or deny whatever offer or counteroffer they made, despite the fact that Manny has stated that money would not be an issue for him in negotiations. Of course Bob Arum is most likely on the other end of the spectrum on this subject, requiring a certain minimum profit that needs to be reached.

End of the month is not so close when May is being considered as the date of the event, thus it would be wise for both teams to figure things out sooner.
