Klitschko v Fury Purse Bid Today In Panama

After the two sides failed to reach an agreement to stage their heavyweight title contest by last night’s deadline, the purse bid for Tyson Fury’s challenge to dominant lineal champion Wladimir Klitschko will today take place in Panama at 11 am, circa 5pm (BST).

Fury has this morning taken to twitter to express his dissatisfaction at the situation, insisting a deal HAD been reached, that Klitschko and his team K2 have now reneged on.

Tyson wrote firstly;

“Wonder who will win the purse bids for Klitschko vs Fury today? Wonder where it will be held? Wonder if the fight happens? Big time messers!”

He then almost immediately followed up with;

“Got to say the Klitschko’s and there (sic) peeps are liars & cheats. Say 1 thing & mean another. We had a deal and they reneged on it! Con artists.”

Klitschko’s K2 outfit are the favourites to win the bid. The last purse bid to beat them was the enormous 26 million Euro bid that took Wladimir to Russia to face Alexander Povetkin back in October ’13.

Rival promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is insistent on himself turning up to make a bid, and it’s not looking likely promoter Mick Hennessey, who looks after Fury with the assistance of Frank Warren, is going to get a sniff of proceedings. That’s if they even bother to make a bid.

The likelihood is that after all the talk of a possible Stadium bout on UK soil to begin closing out his Hall Of Fame career, Klitschko will once again stick with what he knows, and “play safe” at “home” in Germany. That’s unless of course, another wild Russian bid comes in to stage the bout there?

It’s possible – but the fight must be staged by October 24th, and my guess is, Tyson Fury’s going to Germany.
