Klitschko: ‘Fury’s Brain is the Size of a Walnut’

Long dominant heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko has opened up about recent comments from devout Christian, Tyson Fury, in which Fury made disparaging remarks about homosexuals and abortion to British media, prompting the Ukrainian to say they made ‘him sick.’

The highly educated Klitschko, who speaks 4 languages and holds a PhD in Sports Science, goes by the ring moniker ‘Dr. Steelhammer,’ and was scathing toward Fury’s comments to dailymail.co.uk that are clearly borne out of an archaic biblical ideology that in 2015 is deemed long outdated and highly offensive to many.

“We live in an evil world,’ Fury said. ‘The devil is very strong at the minute, very strong, and I believe the end is near. The bible tells me the end is near. The world tells me the end is near. Just a short few years, I reckon, away from being finished.

‘There are only three things that need to be accomplished before the devil comes home: one of them is homosexuality being legal in countries, one of them is abortion and the other one’s paedophilia. Who would have thought in the 50s and 60s that those first two would be legalised?”

The comments, which have created a widespread furore online, particularly in Britain, have angered Klitschko in the sense that they have nothing to do with the promotion of the fight, and coupled with the offensive element, are enough for him to want to distance himself and brand Fury as naïve at best, and downright stupid at the very worst.

“It makes me sick,” Klitschko told Sky Sports about the Fury comments. “It’s disgusting. It has nothing to do with the promotion. It just shows the true inside of Tyson Fury. It shows he has the brain the size of a walnut.

“It’s unhappy for me. I understand there are different characters in boxing, politics and other fields in life but I think he should have kept it for himself.

“We are living, thank God, in a democratic world where everyone has the right to an open opinion.

“If it’s going to get over the edge, yes [he should be punished]. If people know there is no consequence for action, they will continue. I think certain rules exist and people need to respect each other and be proper,” he added.

Despite the offensive nature of the religious comments, Fury clearly possesses a keen intellect and has made much in the build up in being the perfect antidote to the stale, boring persona of the champion, even attending the recent London presser dressed as Batman to drive interest in the fight.

Clearly, he is a man hell bent on doing things his way, whether anyone else likes it or not. Agree or disagree, what’s not to admire about that?

‘Foolish people follow the system, get caught up in media news, what the government wants you to believe and [what] all the higher powers want you to believe and go down the same path as all the sheep in the cattle market,’ he said.

‘This is a funny world we live in and an evil world.

‘People can say, “Oh, you are against abortions, you are against paedophilia, you are against homosexuality, you’re against whatever”, but my faith and my culture is all based on the bible.

“The bible was written a long time ago, from the beginning of time until now, and if I follow that and it tells me it’s wrong, then it’s wrong for me. That’s just my opinion.”

He’s entitled to it. Though perhaps the more pertinent question for boxing fans is ‘will the Good Lord be willing him to victory on Nov. 28 in Dusseldorf?’ Or will the 11 and a half year undefeated streak of the champion continue on for now?

We will soon find out…

Klitschko Fury is on HBO (US) & Sky Sports Box Office (UK)
