Khan in make or break fight against Molina

By Marcus Richardson: Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) is limping into his fight tomorrow night against Carlos Molina still licking his wounds from his last two fights against Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia. Khan lost both of those fights and looked like a fighter that didn’t have the talent to fight at the top level. Khan has now dumped his trainer Freddie Roach and replaced him with Virgil Hunter. Khan thinks that Hunter can turn his career around, and lead him to another world title.

Khan needs a win badly in this fight against Molina if he wants to move onto bigger and better things such as rematch with Danny Garcia or a fight against Kell Brook. There a lot of big fights available to Khan, but he’s got to win tomorrow night to get to them. That doesn’t mean that Khan will be ready for those fights, because the 5’6” Molina doesn’t have the height, reach, power or experience to really test Khan.

This is basically a fight where Khan is going backwards in his career about five years to before his fight with Breidis Prescott when he was still fighting soft opposition. Beating Molina will not get Khan ready to fight Brook or Garcia, if that’s what he wants to do with his career.

Molina knows Khan will be looking to impress in this fight, and he wants to go after him try and knock him out. The fight will be televised by Showtime in the U.S, so Molina will have a lot of boxing fans seeing him for the first time in his career. He wants to look good, and he doesn’t care if he’s a huge underdog. He plans on looking to KO Khan just as Garcia did last July. The problem is Molina doesn’t have the power that Molina has, and that could be what ultimately costs him the fight, but he’s going to try anyway.
