Rising British heavyweight prospect, Anthony Joshua, claims he remains calm and focused ahead of his Box Office showdown with Dillian Whyte on December 12, at London’s O2, though after he dispatches Whyte as he believes he inevitably will, a future showdown with Tyson Fury appeals.
While Joshua’s British and Commonwealth title fight with Whyte is a sought after domestic clash, the card’s PPV price tag has provoked the ire of many fans for it’s failure to include ANY bona fide, GENUINE world title fights, with promoter Eddie Hearn attempting to justify it by claiming the gold medal winning Olympian is already a Box Office fighter after just 14 one-sided blow-outs against limited opposition.
Irrespective, Joshua’s 2016 could possibly include a fight with countryman, Tyson Fury, who fights Wladimir Klitschko for the Ukrainian’s WBA/WBO/IBF titles on Nov. 28 in Dusselfdorf, Germany, and it’s a fight Joshua says he is keen on.
“I like Fury, man. I’d love to fight Fury. I like Fury ’cause it’s a big fight for the UK and we ain’t gotta travel nowhere, we can get it on in England. It’d be a real good fight,” he said to iFLtv.
Joshua was also in a relaxed mood approaching his showdown with bitter rival, Whyte – who holds a 2009 amateur victory over him – refusing to speculate how he will approach the task of beating what is being billed as his most credible test to date.
“It is what it is, boy. I could come out [for the fight] a bit rough and ready, I could come out a bit more cautious and box…..Who knows? It’s the AJ that wants to turn up, the AJ that wants to perform,” he added.
