Isaac ‘Grenade’ Ekpo targets Super Middleweight big guns

Former world title challenger, Isaac Ekpo (26-2, 19 KOs) is craving another opportunity for a shot at global championship and has targeted taking on the very best Super Middleweights in world boxing most notably George Groves.

World title chasing Ekpo AKA Grenade, won again when he fought in the Republic of Benin on May 9, 2015 following a round 3 TKO over Ibrahim Marshall in a bout that was fought at Light Heavyweight limit.

But Ekpo, the Ghana based Nigerian would stay at Super Middleweight and wait for his chance against the big boys of the division, he has exclusively told Boxing247.com adding that he has a keen interest in the fight between Andre Dirrel and James DeGale on May 23.

“It’s a 50-50 fight but if you twist my arms, I will go for James DeGale since he is a more decorated fighter and has improved a lot over the years,” Ekpo said.

Also asked which of the top Super Middleweights he will like to fight, Ekpo was quick to say George Groves after his scheduled fight against WBC champion, Badou Jack.

Ekpo who is no.9 in the WBA Super Middleweight ratings meanwhile returns to fight action on June 13 at the Aborigines Beach Resort in Keta, Volta Region of Ghana versus a yet to be announced opponent.

The Nigerian former WBO Africa champion lost a 12-round unanimous decision to Robert Stieglitz in a bid for the WBO Super Middleweight title in Germany in October 2013 but has since racked up four straight victories.
