Britain’s former 2x super middleweight world title challenger George Groves says that he sees nothing to trouble him when he faces Vegas-based Swede & WBC champion Badou Jack on the Mayweather/Berto undercard, hoping to make it 3rd time lucky with regard his world title dreams.

Groves sadly came up short in back to back world title challenges to Nottingham’s recently retired Carl Froch, despite dumping the notoriously granite-chinned “Cobra” on his backside in their first encounter, yet is convinced that this time the world title is there for the taking.

Speaking at yesterday’s presser, a dapperly dressed Groves, said;

“I’m pleased to be here and for the opportunity to fight for the WBC super-middleweight championship of the world.

“It will be third time lucky this time. We’ve prepared diligently, we’re ready for action and I’ve seen Badou up close and personal.

“We’ve studied his tapes and, as of yet, we cannot find anything that will cause me a problem on September 12th.”

Jack, who upset Anthony Dirrell to take the title in April after Groves had initially stepped aside to allow him in, was knocked out by unheralded American contender Derek Edwards inside a round 18 months ago. He also has a draw on the slate with Marco Antonio Periban – himself destroyed by IBF champ and Grove’s bitter rival James DeGale last November – and he will enter this fight in the eyes of many as a significant underdog.

The heavy handed Groves, who is training at Abel Sanchez’s “Summit” facility in preparation will also surely be looking for a statement win against Jack, given a decision in Vegas against a Mayweather affiliated fighter may be extremely hard to come by – even if the fight appears in no way close.

“We’re looking forward to a good win and we’re planning to take the belt back to the UK. You’re in for a terrific show,” he said.
