By Srithar Visuasam: In one of the most anticipated bouts in Australian boxing history, IBF middleweight champion, Daniel Geale and Anthony Mundine have both weighed in under the 160 pound middleweight limit for their grudge rematch this Wednesday night.
In their first bout in May 2009, Mundine defeated Geale for Geale’s IBO middleweight title via a narrow split decision victory, with his second round knockdown of Geale proving decisive on the scorecards.
The fight was a classic, with both Geale and Mundine going toe to toe for 12 high paced rounds, a rematch has been craved for ever since.
In the weigh in, Geale weighed in near the full middleweight limit at 159.8 pounds, whilst Mundine, who has also campaigned at junior middleweight in recent times, weighed in at a lighter 158.6 pounds.
Both fighters looked in great shape and ready for battle.
The six fight undercard perfectly complements the main event, with the main support bout featuring US heavyweight fighting sensation Kimbo Slice, who takes on Australian Shane Tilyard over four rounds.
Other fights on the night scheduled include WBO #3 featherweight Joel Brunker against Mexican Ivan Hernandez (26-6-1, 17 KOs) over eight rounds and Daniel Ammann (26-5-1, 6 KOs) versus David Aloua (8-0, 5 KOs) over ten rounds for the Australian cruiserweight title.
