Fury: ‘I’ll Make Klitschko Look a Fool’

Tyson Fury has promised his fans that he is out to ‘humiliate’ long-dominant heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, when he challenges for the Ukrainian’s WBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight titles in front of a 56,000 capacity crowd at the Esprit Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, this Saturday.

The 6’9″ Fury is the mandatory challenger to the WBO portion of Klitschko’s crown and has promised that he has a packed bag-of-tricks to unleash on the ‘safety-first’ champion, whom he has accused of being boring and one-dimensional in an entertaining build-up to the fight.

“I will make him look an idiot. I will make him look a fool and humiliate him in front of his own 60,000 crowd,” Fury said to ESPN.co.uk. “I will humiliate him before stopping him. I’m not going to points, I’m going to stop him.”

Not known as a one-shot KO artist, Fury believes that variety will be his key to achieving this, and that along with Uncle and trainer, Peter, they have developed the right strategies to employ on the night and get past Klitschko’s ram-rod jab and land their best shots.

“This fight is going to be won doing many things, changing it up all the time, not giving him the chance to get into his routine or game plan. Changing it all the time is the key and that’s what I will do.”

Klitschko, as usual, has remained publicly unruffled by any of the antics from his British challenger, and will enter the fight a considerable favourite with the bookies, with many predicting that despite his advancing years, he will still find a home for his concussive big right hand at some point in the fight and put Fury to sleep.

Yet the challenger is undeterred by such things, and promises that whatever happens he is there to fight, and one thing he won’t be making is any excuses if things do go against him.

“If I have got to go out on my sword trying to win, I’m better off doing that than losing on points, trying to not win and making excuses afterwards.

“You’re better off getting carried out than faffing around.”
