Fury: Absolutely NO Interest in David Haye Fight

Tyson Fury has again confirmed that he will not fight returning countryman, David Haye, under any circumstances, claiming he would rather vacate any titles on principle should the ‘Hayemaker’ work his way into a mandatory position to fight for them.

Fury remains adamant that former WBA champ, Haye, will never get a shot at any of the IBF/WBO/WBA heavyweight titles as long as he owns them, given that he pulled out of fighting Fury twice shortly before he retired in 2013, costing the 6’9″ Brit his ranking at the time and delaying his eventual shot at Klitschko.

Haye returns to fight Mark DeMori on January 16th in London, his first fight in 3 1/2 years, and has made statements to the effect that Fury ‘needs’ a fight with him to ensure box-office paydays.

“I know he doesn’t want to fight me. The only reason he wanted to back in 2013 was that he was going to get £5m out of the situation. Money talks nine times out of 10,” Haye said to Sky Sports. “I’m fine with it. I don’t need Tyson Fury. I can make money without him – he needs big names now. Although he’s champion, we’ll see how much money he generates.”

“Absolutely point-blank, I will say Haye will never get a chance after what he did to me,” Fury said to guardian.co.uk in reply to Haye’s comments.

“I will never give him a payday. If he gets mandatory for the WBA, he can have the WBA. Let him go and fight Fred Flintstone or Joe Bloggs and make no money.

“Whatever title he gets mandatory for, I will vacate. Let him fight the next challenger. I’m not giving him a pay day.

“I don’t care if he says I can make £10m, it’s not about money for me. I’m not here about the money, because, let’s face it, the next fight with Wladimir Klitschko is going to be for a lot of money. He is getting no opportunities from us… He is a pretender, a fraud.”
