Froch Hits Back At DeGale : ‘Wouldn’t Get Past 8 vs Me’

After he vacated his IBF title instead of facing James DeGale (his then mandatory) in the first instance – something that allowed the Londoner to box – and beat – Andre Dirrell in Boston last month for said title, Carl Froch has spoken out (again!) to hit back at DeGale for his recent pu*** slur on him, insisting he is too experienced for the new champion to deal with – and certainly no pu***.

Speaking to TalkSport to criticise DeGale’s history making performance against Dirrell, Froch said;

“I thought he did just what he had to do to win the fight. I thought he could have pressed it home a little bit more when he scored the knockdown, (but) he seemed off the pace and on the back foot towards the end.”

While that it is a fair enough assessment, Froch’s comments following that border on the ridiculous;

“If he fights someone like me, he wouldn’t get past round eight on that performance. He would absolutely get knocked out.”

“I would absolutely love to show the British people what I would do against someone like James DeGale. I know what would happen in that fight. That’s an easy fight for me. He’s a bit of a novice pro.”

I’d doubt there are many out there who don’t think Froch is pushing it a little with his comments here. He had all sorts of problems himself with Dirrell – an equally mobile southpaw who can bang a little bit himself. And at nigh on 38 and set to be a father once again, it just all sounds like more Froch bluster to me – he would not have an easy night’s work against James DeGale and he damn well knows it.

If he was that sure he has the beating of DeGale then he would have taken that fight ages ago rather than vacate and sit in his ivory tower criticizing other fighters and calling out the long retired Joe Calzaghe. That and c*** teasing his loyal fans with talk of a Golovkin fight.

It’s supposed to be this week that the Cobra is making his ‘announcement’ on whether or not he will fight again.

Those who care will find what side the coin he flipped actually landed on. I can imagine him enjoying doing something like that on live TV actually. Along with reminding everyone of you know what.

Enjoy your retirement Carl. You know it makes sense.
