3-Time World Middleweight Champion Felix Sturm invited selected media members to his training camp in Cologne, Germany, today for an exclusive press workout. Sturm, who is preparing to face IBF Middleweight king Darren Barker on December 7 at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart, gave an insight into his vicious strength and conditioning routine.
Accompanied by light middleweight prospect and long-time friend Maurice Weber, he impressed the media with a hard-as-nails training session. “I’m in great shape”, Sturm said. “I don’t have to make weight anymore, I’m already at 160. I changed lots of things before my last fight against Predrag Radosevic and it paid off. Now, I’m even better. I will make history and become Germany’s first 4-time world champion on December 7.”
Weber, who himself is getting ready for December 7, added: “He is a beast of nature. His strength is incredible but he’s also as fast as ever. There is no way Barker beats him.”
World-class coach Fritz Sdunek and conditioning expert Joschka Grimm are in charge of Sturm’s training. “Felix has never been better at this stage – two and a half weeks before the fight”, Sdunek told the press. “Everything is going according to the plan, probably even better, and I’m sure he’ll win that IBF belt.”
“I have huge respect for Darren Barker”, Sturm concluded. “But he has no idea what is coming for him.”
Sturm vs. Barker for the IBF World Middleweight Championship will take place at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart, Germany, on December 7, 2013. Only few tickets are still remaining, they can be bought online at www.eventim.de or at www.easyticket.de.
