Feigenbutz destroys Reynoso, Fedor Chudinov next

Once beaten 19-year-old German knockout artist Vincent Feigenbutz (20-1, 19 KOs) made easy work of 38-year-old Mauricio Reynoso (15-2-1, 11 KOs) in destroying him in three rounds last Saturday night to capture the interim WBA World super middleweight title at the Gerry Weber Stadium in Halle, Germany. Feigenbutz battered Reynoso with power shots until dropping him in the 3rd round with a hard left to the body. The fight was then stopped at 1:21 of the round by referee Giuseppe Quartarone.

With this victory, Feigenbutz will next be fighting for the world title against WBA World super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov (13-0, 10 KOs) later this year or perhaps early next year.

Sauerland Events are really pushing the 19-year-old Feigenbutz fast to the top despite his young age. If he can capture the WBA title from Chudinov, it will be an impressive accomplishment for someone so young. Feigenbutz will be turning 20 in September. Chudinov, who is currently injured, still needs to successfully defend his WBA title against #13 WBA Frank Buglioni this year. That’s pretty much a forgone conclusion for the hard hitting Russian because Buglioni isn’t considered to be in the same class as him in terms of talent.

“It’s unbelievable, and to be a great honor, the youngest German champion of all time. My plan is now rise to the top. Mauricio is a good man, but he had no chance”, Feigenbutz said to SPORT1.de.

Feigenbutz will be taking a big step up in class in taking on Chudinov. That’s a tough fight for Feigenbutz to be taking at this early point in his career. If he’s going to have any chance of winning that fight then he’s going to need to pace himself a little better.

Most of Feigenbutz’s knockouts have come in three rounds or less, and he might not have the conditioning to deal with a fighter like Chudinov, who is capable of throwing nonstop punches for 12 rounds if he has to. Feigenbutz took a lot of clean shots from Balazs Kelemen in their fight earlier this year. Feigenbutz got the victory by a 9th round stoppage, but didn’t dominate like he’d done with his other opposition.

Feigenbutz’s fighting style is very similar to Marco Huck and Arthur Abraham with the way he charges forward throwing really heavy shots with both hands while moving. He’s arguably got better punching power than Abraham in either hand and it’s hard for his opponents to handle getting hit with that kind of punching power. Feigenbutz tends to explode on his opponents. He’ll cover and do very little, and then all a sudden he’ll be all over his opponents in nailing them with monstrous shots.

Unlike Huck and Abraham, Feigenbutz is a very good inside fighter and capable of landing big shots from close range. Reynoso attempted to clinch Feigenbutz after getting hurt, and he was walloped with shots. Reynoso was still getting hit after he hit the canvas. Feigenbutz continued to punch him even after Reynoso got back up off the canvas before the referee got get in between them.

In addition to winning the interim WBA World super middleweight title last Saturday, Feigenbutz also captured the vacant Global Boxing Union World super middleweight title with his win over Reynoso.
