Eubank Jr Refuses O’Sullivan Face Off

Chris Eubank Jr refused to face off with his Dec. 12 opponent, Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan at today’s London presser, claiming his middleweight rival has ‘lost the privilege’ of looking into his eyes.

Eubank, who holds the lightly regarded WBA (interim) 160 lb strap, will face O’Sullivan on the Matchroom Sport ‘Bad Intentions’ bill, in a fight that’s been sanctioned as a final eliminator for the right to face the winner of 2nd tier WBA champ, Danny Jacob’s December fight with Peter Quillin in New York.

The two fighters have been involved in a bitter social media war of late, that Eubank cited along with O’Sullivan’s past behaviour at press conferences, as his reason for not participating in the head to head – notably referring to the time when O’Sullivan planted a kiss on former opponent Anthony Fitzgerald before their bitter rivals fight a year ago.

“You are a fake as you won’t say stuff to my face. You are a keyboard warrior, Twitter terrorist,” Eubank said to O’Sullivan, who was bizarrely quiet throughout.

Elaborating later to Sky Sports, Eubank said.

“In [a] previous head-to-head, he pretty much open-mouth kissed his opponent, which is terrible. It’s unacceptable and has no place in boxing to do something like that to an opponent.

“I told him he’d lost the privilege of facing off with me today,” he added before rejecting the notion of O’Sullivan’s trainers Paschal and Steve Collins that they have the blueprint to beat the Eubanks, given Collin’s 1995 victories over Chris Eubank Snr.

“What happens is complete domination,” Jr predicted. “I’m going to be too much for him. He’s not going to have any answers. He’s going to fade and then I’m going to break him.”

“He’s been stalking and harassing me on Twitter for about three years straight.

“He finally got his chance today to come face-to-face, have a real sit down and talk and he didn’t really have much to say for himself, which is disappointing but at the end of day the talking will be done in the ring and I believe I’ll be the better man on the night.”

Eubank Jr v O’Sullivan will be aired by Sky Sports in the UK, with promoters Matchroom still not confirming or denying it’s suspected PPV status.
