Juan “El Gallo” Estrada successfully defended his WBO Flyweight and WBA Super World Flyweight Titles on Saturday night, September 6, in a resounding victory against Giovani Segura, “The Aztec Warrior”. The fight took place at the Arena Cuidad de Mexico, with an estimated 10,000 spectators in attendance. Fans and friends watched in breathless anticipation as Estrada (27-2-20KOs) dominated the ex-champion Giovani Segura (32-5-1, 28 KOs) during the entire fight. It was joyful for Estrada but heart-breaking for the Aztec Warrior as the 11th round brought an end to this grueling match, giving Estrada an impressive victory against a very formidable opponent and handing Segura the second loss in his entire career by way of TKO—bringing the Aztec Warrior’s three-win streak to an end, and securing El Gallo’s claim as the reigning best boxer in the lower weight division.

After the first bell rang, the two fighters came out swinging, exchanging blows and dancing around the ring in one of the most explosive and exciting boxing matches of the year! Although the Aztec Warrior has a fierce reputation for dominating his opponents, it became apparent early on that Estrada was not about to let Segura set the pace. El Gallo seemed to control the Aztec Warrior, who dodged and weaved around the ring in order to avoid the pounding dealt to him by El Gallo.

After working his body for numerous rounds, Estrada appeared fresh while his opponent became visibly worn down. In this thrilling fight, El Gallo started creating new opportunities by raining blows on his opponent in the 11th round. Powerful combinations of left and rights to the head finished off the fatigued Aztec Warrior and finally brought the fight to an end.

El Gallo secured another successful defense of his title as he overcame one the hardest-punching challengers in the flyweight division!

After the long fight ended, El Gallo marched around the ring and displayed his Championship belt to the cheering crowds. When asked how he felt about winning, Juan Estrada proudly exclaimed, “I knew I would win, but I did not expect the fight to go on for 11 rounds. We both fought hard, but I was better prepared, and all my hard work, training, and preparation really paid off. I thank God and Latin Sports for giving me the opportunity to defend my titles. I love boxing and look forward to the next fight!”

Carlos Moncada of Latin Sports commented, “El Gallo is one of the most talented and dedicated fighters I’ve known in all the years I’ve been in the business. We are very thankful that he was not injured in this hard-won victory. Juan is a very smart fighter, shrewd and cunning, and he always gives his best in every round. Giovani puts up a good fight and usually controls the pace because of his ability to cut the ring off, but we knew that El Gallo was in the best condition of his life, and he was seriously training to meet and beat this formidable opponent. He is dedicated and committed to his profession, and this is a perfect example of where hard work and preparation meets opportunity. Success is the natural outcome of this kind of discipline and hard work. We believe Juan “El Gallo” Estrada is of the greatest Flyweight Boxing Champions of all time, and we look forward to a bright and shining future with this fine young champion.”
