Dereck Chisora: Wants European Title Shot Against Teper / Middle Finger Gesture for Lucas Browne

Finchley heavyweight and former world title challenger Dereck Chisora (21-5, 14ko) has insisted that the fight he would like the most is against new EBU champion Erkan Teper(15-0, 10ko), (to whom he is mandatory) the man who recently knocked Liverpool’s David Price out cold in Germany inside two rounds.

Despite the giant Scouser’s recent misfortunes, “Del Boy” is predicting that he will be back at some point and is confident that he can beat Teper handily himself, though has expressed doubts the German really wants to fight him.

“The way my year is going I’ll knock him out. It’ll be an easy fight for me,” he said to iFLtv, referencing his recent 30 second blowout of Beka Lobjanidze.

“The way I’m training now and the way I was training previously are totally different,” he added, in part referring to his recent split from long time trainer Don Charles as well as his changing attitude.

“The only problem with David Price is that he let him (Teper) in. That’s it. For a big guy David Price should have hold him (sic), pushed him off and stuff like that, but he didn’t do that.

“I think David Price will be back anyway.”

Speaking about Teper and the EBU title, along with his desire to get back in the mix at the top, Chisora said;

“I just want to win it (European) so I can get back in the top 10, that’s it. Winning the European you’re basically in the top 10, though I don’t think he’s (Teper) gonna fight me. I personally think he’ll pull out.”

One fight that can potentially be made, and would be a decent enough scrap, is one against Australia’s Lucas Browne, who admittedly looked poor in his fight last week with late replacement journeyman Julius Long, due to a thumb injury sustained early in the bout.

At the mention of the unbeaten Browne wanting the fight with Chisora and asking for a contract to be sent to him at home in Oz, Chisora raised his middle finger and replied, “here’s your contract,” though he added shortly afterwards;

“If he wants to fight then I don’t mind. We can do it on the Wembley show (26/9), I can beat the guy in less than 3 rounds if he wants. I’m down for it.”

With Browne unlikely to be available for that show due to the injury, the Australian’s interest in that fight remains, and with his promoter Ricky Hatton having links to Frank Warren from his own fighting days, it shouldn’t be too hard a fight to put together for either the end of the year, or early next year dependent on how long Browne is out of action.
