Crolla: Out for Justice in Perez Title Rematch

Anthony Crolla is hoping he can turn up the heat in his rematch challenge to WBA lightweight champion, Darleys Perez (32-1-1, 20ko) on Saturday, and see justice finally done after his hugely controversial draw with the Colombian back in July.

In the eyes of most right thinking fans, the Manchester fighter was clearly denied victory before his hometown support, in the wake of some dubious scoring that saw two judges award the fight level [113-113], despite Perez losing 2 pts for low blows in the later rounds and a busy, high work rate showing from Crolla that was more in keeping with the 3rd official score of 111-116.

“Every time I watch [the first fight], it doesn’t get any easier. I still think I won it, but I can make it right on Saturday,” Crolla told Sky Sports.

“People say it was a career-best performance. It might have been, but I have improved since then. In the last fight there were times that I out boxed him, times I hurt him, and that gives me huge confidence.

“I am sure he’s going to start fast and try to impose himself on me, to try to show that it wasn’t him at his best last time and I look forward to answering the questions that he is going to ask me,” he added.

Perez/Crolla 2 will be live on Sky Sports in the UK on Saturday as part of a televised split from Germany, where Britain’s Martin Murray will challenge Arthur Abraham for the German’s WBO super-middleweight title.
