In a card filled with mismatches, heavyweight contender #8 WBC, Manuel Charr (24-1, 14 KO’s) stopped his over-matched opponent Oleksiy Mazikin (14-9-2, 4 KO’s) in the 3rd round earlier tonight at the Karl Eckel Halle, Hattersheim am Main, Hessen, Germany.
Charr, 28, knocked out the easy to hit 38-year-old Mazikin in the 3rd round with a series of hard body shots to get the stoppage.
In another mismatch on the card, unbeaten heavyweight contender Denis Boytsov (33-0, 26 KO’s) stayed unbeaten with a 3rd round TKO over Oleksandr Nesterenko (9-2, 4 KO’s). Boytsov was too strong, too skilled and too experienced for the novice.
It’s really time that Charr and Boytsov start thinking about stepping it up a couple levels because it just seems like they’re waiting to get title shots or big money fights to plop into their laps without them facing quality opposition to earn those fights.
Charr has fought only good opponent in his career and that WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko who easily beat Charr last year in a 4th round TKO. Boytsov still hasn’t faced anyone that you can call a good fighter despite him sporting an impressive 33-0 record.
Light heavyweight Enad Lucina (23-4, 13 KO’s) defeated Mercel Zeller in the 3rd round of another mismatch on the card.
This was a really disappointing card because there wasn’t one competitive fight out of the bunch.
