Bradley targeting Mayweather Jr

By Marcus Richardson: Tim Bradley is now officially out of the running for a mega fight against Manny Pacquiao for December 8th. Bradley had to wait around for months to finally discover that he’s not going to get the fight. Needless to say he’s not happy about being passed over by Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum for the big money rematch. However, Bradley is now hoping to hit the ground running by getting an even better money fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Bradley said to RingTV “So how about Floyd Mayweather? IU guess that Manny’s fighting a guy that really beat him, and Floyd’s already beaten the guy that is getting the next fight with Manny. So the only guys that’s left is Tim Bradley. So, Floyd, let’s do it.”

I hope Bradley doesn’t invest too much mental energy into hoping he’ll get that fight, because Mayweather likely won’t want that fight either with Bradley. If Pacquiao and Arum are passing Bradley over because his fight with Pacquiao last June failed to bring in big pay per view numbers, then Mayweather would have to be a fool to agree to fight Bradley after that. It would be a good test to compare his own PPV pull in a fight against Bradley compared to Pacquiao’s when he fought and lost to Bradley last June. But I don’t think Mayweather is going to want to waste one of his fights on a guy that hasn’t proven that he’s a PPV fighter in Bradley.

Mayweather would be doing Arum a big favor by agreeing to fight Bradley, because it would be a big fight for the Top Rank promoted Bradley, and it might increase his value as a fighter if he didn’t look too bad in losing to Mayweather. But Mayweather probably isn’t going to take that fight unless he’s really needy and Bradley is willing to tiny cut of the revenue. I think Bradley would be lucky to get a 90-10 purse split with Mayweather.
