Badou Jack: ‘I Want DeGale Fight’ / Chavez Jr Also Possible

WBC super-middleweight champion, Badou Jack, has stated that he is keen on a unification fight with Britain’s IBF champion, James DeGale in the future, though has admitted he may end up fighting Julio Cesar Chavez Jr first.

Jack recently beat DeGale’s bitter rival George Groves in Las Vegas on the Floyd Mayweather/Andre Berto bill, and is keen to get his hands on the Beijing 2008 gold medalist for a unification next year, provided ‘Chunky’ gets past Canada’s Lucien Bute on Nov. 28 first.

“Yes, we were gonna have to fight an eliminator before I had my little accident and lost [to Derek Edwards],” Jack said to iFLtv. “If he beats Lucien Bute and I win my next fight, we can hopefully meet next Summer, who knows? I definitely wanna fight him,” he added. “I wanna get his belt too.”

The next fight for Jack will ‘probably be early next year,’ according to the Swedish ‘Money Team’ member, and he claims that a clash with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr is a very real possibility provided the Mexican is fully fit and willing to fight at 168.

“Chavez Jr [has] been mentioned. He said he wants to fight me and I wanna fight him but I think he’s hurt his hand so I don’t know if he’s ready to fight right now but I’ll talk to Floyd and [Leonard] Ellerbe and see who’s next.”
