Britain’s Martin Murray (32-2-1, 15ko) will hope 4th time’s a charm when he travels yet again for a world title opportunity, challenging WBO 168lb champion Arthur Abraham (43-4, 29ko) in Hannover, Germany on November 21st.

The St.Helen’s fighter has been unlucky three times previously in title tilts when on the road at middleweight, taking Gennady Golovkin further than any man prior in Monte Carlo back in February [11 rnds], dropping a decision to Sergio Martinez in the Argentines’ backyard in 2013, and getting stiffed with a draw against Felix Sturm in Germany in 2011.

One can argue that if any fighter deserves a bit of world title luck it’s Murray, who moved to super-middleweight and new handlers Matchroom following the Golovkin fight, making three routine outings recently to warm up for November’s [surprise] big fight.

“I was shocked when Arthur agreed to the fight, it’s one he didn’t have to take so must be confident but I am at my natural weight now and believe on November 21 I will become world champion,” Murray said today when the fight was announced.

“It’s the fight that I targeted when I chose to move up to super-middleweight and it’s one that I am confident of winning. I know that Arthur is a great champion and a tough man to beat on his home patch, but my trainer Oliver Harrison and I both believe that we have the formula to take his title.

“I have never been afraid to travel to fight for world titles and this occasion will be no different; I expect lots of Brits to travel to Germany and it will be a fantastic atmosphere and a great fight for the fans in the Arena and watching on Sky Sports and Sat.1.”

The now 35 year old Abraham has looked re-invigorated as of late, coming off of July’s knockout victory of old foe Robert Stieglitz. It was their fourth fight, a series Abraham defiantly took 3:1.

‘He [Murray] has challenged for world titles three times before and on two of those occasion he should of won,” Abraham said.
“He is a very deserving challenger and I think it will be a good fight. That is what the public want to see – the best fighting the best – and that is what they will see on November 21 in Hannover.’
