Lucas Browne prepares for Chagaev with fight against Gonzalo Basile

LUCAS “BIG DADDY” BROWNE will engage in a warm up contest against Argentina’s experienced Gonzalo Basile next month before switching his attention to WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev.

The heavy-hitting Aussie is the current mandatory challenger for Chagaev’s crown, but a series of uncontrollable issues have led to the fight being delayed.

WBA World Heavyweight Champion Ruslan Chagaev and challenger Francesco Pianeta are ready for their title fight this Saturday (July 11th) at GETEC Arena in Magdeburg, Germany. Both fighters looked very sharp and focused at the public workout at Allee Center in Magdeburg doing some pad work with their trainers Dirk Dzemski (Pianeta) and Pedro Diaz and Artur Grigorian (Chagaev).

Chagaev vs. Pianeta: WBA Heavyweight Champion has to face Oquendo and Browne next

This Saturday (July 11th) WBA World Heavyweight Champion Ruslan Chagaev will defend his title against Francesco Pianeta. The winner will not have a lot of time to enjoy his victory. The World Boxing Association (WBA) has ordered two mandatories for the old or new Champion after exceptionally allowing Chagaev a voluntary defense one year after the “White Tyson” won the vacant title in Grozny by majority decision over Fres Oquendo.

Oquendo’s Lawyer Requests Conference With Court For Contempt Citation Against Chagaev’s Promoter

NEW YORK, NY (April 18, 2015) – Ruslan Chagaev’s promoter, Terek Box Event and its principal Timur Dugazaev issued a press release yesterday in which Dugazaev stated that “there will be no rematch between Chagaev and [Fres] Oquendo” and that “actually, I sue [Oquendo] in Moscow for returning the purse as stated in the contract.”

The whole boxing world was shocked by the sudden death of Fritz Sdunek late last year. U.S. Court orders Chagaev vs Oquendo rematch!

NEW YORK, NY (April 7, 2015) – Square Ring Promotions and Hitz Boxing announced today that District Court Judge Ronnie Abrams for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York entered an order in Oquendo vs. Terek Box Event (Case no. 14-cv-9835) preliminarily enjoining the Defendant from, among other things, “promoting or managing Ruslan Chagaev in any bout for the World Boxing Association (“WBA”) World Heavyweight Championship, unless Mr. Chagaev first shall have defended his WBA heavyweight title against Fres Oquendo or vacated the WBA title.”
