“This is the real deal!”: WBC belt on display in Worcester

Anyone who knows boxing understands the history and prestige of the famed green belt, the coveted prize for winning a World Boxing Council (WBC) championship.

Established in 1963, the WBC has reigned supreme as one of boxing’s elite sanctioning bodies, representing 164 countries and sanctioning more than 2,000 world championship bouts, many under the guidance of former late president Jose Sulaiman.


CES Boxing media tour kicks off Thursday in Worcester

With the highly anticipated Fight of the Year less than three weeks away, CES Boxing launches its official press tour Thursday in Worcester, Mass., to kick off the final countdown to its April 7th extravaganza.

CES hosts the first of two pep rallies / press conferences Thursday, March 23rd at 6:30 p.m. at Lock 50 in Worcester, located at 150 Water St., to formally announce its Friday, April 7th card at Twin River Casino featuring the main event World Boxing Council (WBC) USNBC Welterweight Title Bout between Nick DeLomba and Jimmy Williams. The press tour continues Tuesday, March 28th, also at 6:30 p.m., at Powerhouse Gym in New Haven, Conn., located at 31 Bernhard Rd. Both events are open to the public.


WBC title up for grabs in DeLomba-Williams showdown

The best and brightest welterweights in the northeast battle for the opportunity of a lifetime next month at Twin River Casino.

With bragging rights already up for grabs, Nick DeLomba (11-1, 2 KOs) of Cranston, R.I., and Jimmy Williams (12-0-1, 5 KOs) of New Haven, Conn., now fight for the vacant World Boxing Council United States National Boxing Council (WBC USNBC) Welterweight Title in the 10-round main event of CES Boxing’s upcoming Friday, April 7th, 2017 show, a recent twist added by CES president Jimmy Burchfield Sr., whose 11-fight card next month continues the promotion’s year-long 25th anniversary celebration.

New England boxers dominated last night’s Broadway Boxing, presented by DiBella Entertainment and sponsored by Nissan of Queens, Optyx, Azad Watches and Christos Steak House, held in the Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

Rhode Island lightweight “Nice” Nick DeLomba (11-1, 2 KOs) outboxed and outpunched former Florida State Golden Gloves champion Amos “2 Smooth” Cowart (11-2-1, 9 KOs) for an upset victory by way of an eight-round unanimous decision.


Nick DeLomba headlines Broadway Boxing this Thursday night in Fox Theater

DiBella Entertainment has announced a solid Broadway Boxing card, showcasing many of New England’s most promising prospects, this Thursday night in Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

“Nice” Nick DeLomba (10-1, 2 KOs), fighting out of Cranston, RI, is one of six New Englanders that will be featured on, ironically, Broadway Boxing. The 26-year-old DeLomba will square off against Groveland, Florida’s Amos “2 Smooth” Cowart (11-1-1, 9 KOs) in the eight-round main event.


DeLomba faces southpaw Rodriguez in July 17th co-feature

LINCOLN, R.I. (July 8th, 2015) — Juan Rodriguez Jr. stopped short of making any predictions in advance of his Friday, July 17th, 2015 bout against unbeaten welterweight Nick DeLomba, but has little doubt as to which fighter would benefit more in an old-fashioned slugfest.
