Satchell set to defend EBU title in the wake of Shiming defeat

Kevin Satchell, 14-0 (3KO’s), will now defend his European Flyweight title against mandatory challenger Thomas Masson, 12-3 (3KO’s), in the wake of a surprise defeat for Chinese boxing poster boy Zou Shiming, 6-1 (1KO), on 7th March.

Rumours were rife – following Satchell’s confident 1st round stoppage of the heavily outclassed Walter Rojas a night earlier – that the Liverpool man was next in line to face the would be superstar following an expected victory over IBF titlist Amnat Ruenroeng, 15-0 (5KO’s).

Conteh Supports New Liverpool Stars

Liverpool hero and British boxing great John Conteh met up with two of the new generation of Scouse stars Kevin Satchell and Jazza Dickens in their home city today.

The former British, Commonwealth, European and WBC World Light-Heavyweight Champion and superstar of his day visited Satchell and Dickens in their Red Triangle Gym to give them words of advice ahead of their big title fights at the Liverpool Echo Arena on Friday 6th March.

Satchell targeting World honours

Reigning British, Commonwealth and European flyweight champion Kevin Satchell has his eyes firmly fixed on World title glory in 2015.

Satchell 13-0 (2KO’s) returns to action on the undercard of Frank Warren’s ‘Mersey Boys’, which includes Paul Butler’s chance to become a two weight World champion when he faces current IBF super flyweight champion Zolani Tete.

British and Commonwealth flyweight boss Kevin ‘Ice Man’ Satchell returns to action this Saturday when he challenges Belarus hardman Valery Yanchy for the European title before the Scouse faithful at The Echo Arena in his home city this Saturday.

Twenty six year old ‘Satch’ has barely put a foot wrong racing to 12-0 (2) and will be strongly fancied to become Britain’s first continental champion at eight stone for 14 years.

Scouse ace Kevin Satchell says he and Liverpool can slay the Spaniards in their crucial forthcoming sporting clashes.
