Fagan – Buckland on 7/16

Longshots Sports’ Matthew Fagan fights former British Super Featherweight Champion Gary Buckland on Saturday and has told us to expect a highly entertaining fight on July 16th at the Ice Arena Wales, Cardiff.

Fagan is full of confidence going into the fight but will be under no illusion of the challenge ahead of him when he goes toe-to-toe with his Welsh opponent. Buckland has been a professional boxer since 2005 and is a former holder of the British Lonsdale Belt, beating high quality opponents in the process in Gavin Rees, Stephen Foster, Gary Sykes and Derry Mathews.

Cardle was ringside to watch his late replacement Dodd, 10-1 (2KO’s), withstand the customary Buckland onslaught to coolly box above the levels his previous experience would suggest to deservedly have his hand held victorious 97-95 on the referees scorecard.

Gavin Rees: It’s win or bust against Buckland

Gavin Rees says that defeat against Gary Buckland at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on February 22 would spell the end of his career.

The former WBA World Light Welterweight champion was stopped by Adrien Broner in Atlantic City for ‘The Problem’s’ WBC Lightweight crown in February and followed that with a slender defeat to Anthony Crolla in Bolton in June.
