New York, NY(2/12/14) – Earlier tonight, DiBella Entertainment hosted the last ever boxing event to take place at the historic Roseland Ballroom in mid-town Manhattan. The nine-bout card was the epitome of old-school New York boxing, and was as good of a sendoff as the ballroom could have asked for.
In the main event of the final boxing event ever at the famed Roseland Ballroom, Boyd Melson, 160, White Plains, NY, of “Team Fight to Walk”, outboxed Donald Ward, 155, Memphis, TN, to earn a majority decision victory on scores of 78-74, 79-73, and 76-76.
Broadway Boxing “The Last Dance” Official Weights
New York, NY (2/11/14) – Earlier today, all of the fighters for the DiBella Entetainment Broadway Boxing card weighed-in ahead of tomorrow nights fights at Roseland Ballroom in NYC. Tomorrow night’s card will be the premiere installment of the 2014 Broadway Boxing series and the final boxing show ever to take place at the famed and historic Roseland Ballroom.
Below is the complete bout sheet for tomorrow night’s show. The card, entitled “The Last Dance”, has had such a positive response with New York boxing’s adoring fan base that DBE has had to open up more seats at the last minute to accommodate the flood of calls and requests coming in for tickets. General admission standing room only tickets, priced at $35, will now be available at the door tomorrow evening. Doors open at 6 p.m. ET, with the first bout scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
Ruiz Injured; Melson to face Ward February 12!
New York, NY (February 7, 2014) – tough Tennessean Donald “Bulldog” Ward will replace the injured Mike Ruiz as the opponent for Captain Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson Wednesday, February 12 in New York City.
The Melson-Ruiz 154 pound showdown was heavily hyped in the Big Apple, with both men known for their warrior mentality and large fan bases, but a hand injury forced Ruiz out of the bout.
Eight years Melson’s junior, Ward’s professional record is 6-3 with 3 wins by knockout. He’s faced three highly-regarded unbeaten fighters and on September 7 2013, the Memphis native shocked once-beaten hometown favorite William Jackson over six rounds.
Roseland Ballroom’s “The Last Dance” Broadway Boxing Event Complete Undercard Announced
New York, NY (2/5/14) – Next Wednesday, February 12, DiBella Entertainment will promote the last boxing show ever to take place at NYC’s famed Roseland Ballroom in midtown Manhattan. The card, entitled “The Last Dance”, will be the premiere show of the 2014 Broadway Boxing series and the last boxing event to take place at the famed arena before it officially closes its doors in April following more than 50 years of operation at its current location.
As previously announced, featured bouts on the card will see New York fan-favorites Heather “The Heat” Hardy (7-0, 2KO’s), an undefeated super bantamweight, and West Point graduate junior middleweight Boyd “The Rainmaker” Melson (13-1-1, 4KO’s) in separate eight-round bouts, with the remainder of the card showcasing a number of exciting bouts and young prospects from the stables of both DiBella Entertainment and 50 Cent’s SMS Promotions.
