New York boxing icon Gerry Cooney has been named Goodwill Ambassador for the annual Battle of the Badges, presented by Hooters, on Friday, November 20, 2015. The annual boxing matchups pit New York’s Finest against New York’s Bravest in the boxing ring at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
Narrated by Academy Award Nominee Liam Nelson, MSG Network’s “The Garden’s Defining Moments” is a special 20-part television event presented by SAP, celebrating some of the greatest moments at Madison Square Garden spanning the legendary venue’s more than 135-year history. The Garden’s four Arena complexes have played host to many of the greatest moments in the history of sports, music, entertainment and politics and MSG Network will dedicate a half-hour episode to honor 20 of these “Defining Moments,” which are showcased in the Arena with photos, memorabilia and artifacts.
The decade’s long rivalry that began in 1982 continues on Saturday, November 22 when the NYPD and FDNY step into the Garden boxing ring in the annual Battle of the Badges, presented by Hooters. The full night of boxing will take place in The Theater at Madison Square Garden with proceeds benefiting both the Atlas Cops & Kids Boxing Program and the Building Homes for Heroes Organization. Additionally, in support of our troops, 1,000 free tickets will be given away to active members of the United States armed forces.
