Two years later, he's feeling stronger than ever and enjoys a new appreciation for the speed, power and athleticism he's been blessed with. Andre Berto Eyes Impressive Showing in September 6 Ring Return

(OAKLAND, CALIF.) – Former two-time welterweight world champion Andre Berto (Winter Haven, Fla.) and his team are preparing to close training camp on Monday and head to Cincinnati for his 2014 debut. The 30-year-old will take on Steve Upsher Chambers (Philadelphia, Pa.) in welterweight action in his first bout since suffering a significant shoulder injury in his last outing on July 27, 2013.

Berto will return to the ring on the eve of his 31st birthday and the 2004 Haitian Olympian plans to show boxing fans what they’ve been missing in his absence.

Super Middleweight Champion Andre Ward is Nominated for a 2014 ESPY Award

(OAKLAND, CALIF.) – Reigning super middleweight champion and number two pound-for-pound boxer in the world Andre Ward (Oakland, Calif.) has been nominated for a 2014 ESPY award following his outstanding return to the ring last year. Ward is one of five nominees in the Best Fighter category, which includes athletes in both boxing and UFC. It is the second ESPY nomination in three years for Ward who was also honored for his outstanding performance in the ring in 2012.

Gary Russell Jr. Arrives in Los Angeles for Saturday’s WBO Featherweight Title Fight

(CARSON, CALIF.) – Featherweight contender Gary Russell Jr. (Capitol Heights, Md.) and his team arrived in the Los Angeles area on Tuesday night for his WBO Featherweight title fight with two-time Olympic gold medalist Vasyl Lomachenko of Ukraine on June 21.

Russell traveled to California with his father and trainer Gary Russell, Sr., and three younger brothers, Gary Allan III, Gary Antonio and Gary Antuanne for his first title shot on Saturday at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., and live on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING. Today’s decision from the California State Athletic Commission was not unexpected. From the very start, we do not feel that the commission has been looking out for the best interests of Andre Ward, the very boxer they are supposed to protect.

To the contrary, for some inexplicable reason, the CSAC has continually bent over backwards to try to accommodate a promoter who we feel is taking horrible advantage of Andre and his career.
