Maltese boxers, Steve Martin, Tyrone Borg, Mario Borg, Richard Vella and Christian Schembri, along with team members Charlot Colleiro and Thomas Camilleri, made the journey from the idyllic Islands of Malta to the world famous TRAD TKO Gym in London, in order to prepare for their upcoming fights on the Demis Tonna Prizeboxing Promotions ROCK SOLID event, which takes place at the Naxxar Trade Fair Grounds in Malta on Friday, June 27th.
Malta Boxing Commission Vice President Gianluca Di Caro today announced that both the Malta Boxing Commission and the UK based subsidiary MBC International have become affiliated to the prestigious Association of Boxing Commissions.
Steve Collins has spent almost all his adult life facing challenges head on – mainly in the hallowed square ring – from early days as an amateur boxer through to a massively successful professional career, that see him crowned World Champion in two weight divisions, not once but twice, but now the man known as the ‘Celtic Warrior’ has a new challenge, in a new field (no pun intended) as he launches a new extreme running event – THE GREAT BRITISH HELL RUN – and all for a good cause.
Following the widely reported heroic actions of professional boxer Manny Muhammad, who rescued a Reverend who was trapped under a car following a collision in the United Kingdom, it was announced today that Manny is set to receive an award from the Malta Boxing Commission.
London’s Marianne Marston was mightily unlucky not to secure the World Boxing Union European Featherweight title on Saturday, losing by a close split points decision to Czech Republic’s Hana Horakova.
Marston got off to a good solid start, easily securing the first three rounds with quality jabs and stinging body shots, the fourth was a tad closer, Marston getting the nod in my eyes due to the quality of her work.
Former World Champions Wayne Elcock and Tony Oakey know a thing or two about winning Championships, so when they met up with Marianne Marston last weekend, at the TRAD TKO Boxing Gym in association with the World Boxing Union, Charity Boxing Event in aid of the Indee Rose Trust, they were quick to pass on some advice and voice their support to the TRAD TKO fighter, ahead of her World Boxing Union European title clash with Hana Horakova, which takes place at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London this coming Saturday.
It was officially announced earlier today that instead of challenging Galina Gumliiska, for the World Boxing Union European Super Bantamweight title this coming Saturday, at York Hall in Bethnal Green, TRAD TKO Gym’s Marianne Marston will instead be challenging Czech Republic’s Hana Horakova, for the Featherweight version of the WBU European strap.
Unbeaten Light Middleweight prospect Paul Upton will be back in action on next month, when he features on the undercard of TRAD TKO Gym mate Freddie Turner’s challenge for the British Masters Gold title, against Chris Jenkinson, at the Cresset in Peterborough on Saturday 8th March 2014.
Paul, who will be making his third professional outing on March 8th, certainly made an impact on his pro debut, beating the highly experienced Dee Mitchell by a shut out points decision, back in July.
Turkish former Amateur and IABA World Series Of Boxing star Onder Ozgul is set to make his professional debut next month, when he features on the Dave Murphy Acourtier Events, double WBU European title headed, WARZONE event at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London on Saturday 1st March 2014.
With over a hundred amateur bouts under his belt, Onder has built up quite a reputation in his homeland, earning the nickname ‘Little Mike’, from the fans due to his style being so similar to that of legendary ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson, something he would like to emulate here in the UK, now that he has made the move to London.
