Inspirational Words From Mark Prince Ahead Of March 1st Title Fight

When I recently interviewed Mark Prince I just wanted to get some good quotes to use in press releases to promote his upcoming fight, however part way through the interview I soon realized there’s no way this man’s inspirational words should be edited into ‘quotes’ to publicize a mere boxing match, albeit an important one for him and his fans, so instead I decided to keep the interview in it’s entirety.

York Hall: Turner Secures Southern Area Title, Martin and Upton Brothers Impress

AnthonyUptonDanCarr3394Last Friday night Johnny Eames and the TRAD TKO Events crew presented their latest installment – aptly named BROTHERS IN ARMS – and too be honest it was even better than their previous ones, which I, as well as I am sure anyone that attended the first two shows, would not have thought possible.

As before matchmaker Jon Pegg ensured a night of exciting and evenly matched bouts, much to the delight of the assembled fans, perhaps not so much for Johnny Eames – the reason, well that will become clear, dramatic events of the night unfold, in the following report.

Besides the ‘in the ring’ action and drama there was also a highly charged element of suspense and intrigue surrounding the final fight of the evening, which ultimately led to the Shiya Ozgul versus Chris Jenkinson bout being sanctioned by the Malta Boxing Commission and not the British Boxing Board of Control, who sanctioned the rest of the card

Gone In Sixty Seconds! – Marianne Marston Stops Lazar In One

MarstonLazar3047On Friday night at York Hall in London, TRAD TKO Gym’s Marianne Marston made very short work of her fight with Katalina Lazar, stopping the Romanian late replacement in just sixty seven seconds of the first round.

In front of a highly partisan crowd, that included a large contingent of fans from her favourite football team, Arsenal, Marianne put on yet another sensational performance.

From the off Marianne and Katalina exchanged stiff jabs, then around the twenty second mark Marianne switched focus to the body, letting rip with a vicious hook to the body, with the wind knocked out of her Katalina had no option but to take to one knee.

Katalina managed to make it to her feet just as referee Ken Curtis reached the nine count.

Fight Report: York Hall, London October 4th – Retzke Crowned Champ, Impressive Victories For Prince, Weaver, Marston

PrinceVelecky3270Over the years I’ve been to some of the biggest and most extravagant World Championship events both in America and Europe, I’ve also attended hundreds of small hall shows and can’t deny that I get a buzz from them all, even those with dubious over matching, but I’ve never been emotionally blown away like I was on Friday night.

Why, well for a start Mark Prince’s return was a major factor for my emotional state and I’m sure it was for many others in attendance.

Mark had returned to the fray to raise awareness of, and funds for, the Kiyan Prince foundation – www.kiyan.org – which is a charitable trust that Mark had created in memory of his murdered son Kiyan, a talented footballer.

Another factor was former Big Brother star, Angel McKenzie, finally getting to challenge for a World title here in the UK, after various attempts abroad.

Up Close And Personal With Returning Champ Mark Prince

MarkPrince2780 Photo by Gianluca (Rio) Di Caro – A few weeks ago it was announced that former WBO and IBF Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight Champion, and World title challenger, Mark Prince is set to make his return to competitive action, on the Dave Murphy Acourtier Events promoted ‘NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS’ at York Hall, in London, on Friday 4th October.

Earlier this week I was lucky enough to catch up with the man known simply as ‘The Prince’, but before we get the interview I think a bit of scene setting would be in order, for those that have not had the pleasure of seeing Mark in action the first time around, with an abridged version of Mark’s excellent career.

On the 4th April 1993, Mark made short work of his first pro opponent, Birmingham’s Bobby Mack, by stopping him in the second round, early baths followed for both his next pair of opponents, John Kaighin and Art Stacey, Kaighin only made it to the third and Mark knocked out Stacey in the second.
