British Lionhearts Confirm Team For World Series Boxing Showdown With Italia Thunder In Liverpool

The British Lionhearts has named its team to take on Italia Thunder when the World Series of Boxing (WSB) makes its debut in Liverpool at The Auditorium, Echo Arena on Friday 2 March 2018.

Local favourite and reigning European Champion, Peter McGrail (bantamweight), will be joined by three fellow members of the GB Boxing Olympic programme including, Rio Olympian, Galal Yafai (light-flyweight), 2017 European Championship silver medallist, Luke McCormack (light-welterweight), and rising star, Ben Whittaker (middleweight). Overseas selection, Radoslav Pantaleev (heavyweight), of Bulgaria completes the line-up.

Minister for Sport Crouch praises boxing for elite success

THE Minister for Sport, Tracey Crouch MP, has praised the sport of boxing for its ability to deliver medal success, rising participation and bring social benefits to people and communities across Britain.

Her comments were made in a the Ministerial Foreword she contributed to GB Boxing’s Annual Review 2016-17, ‘Towards Future Success’.

Top class international boxing heading to Wales as British Lionhearts bring World Series Boxing to Newport

TOP class international boxing is coming to Wales this spring when the British Lionhearts take-on the French Fighting Roosters in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) on Saturday 14 April 2018 at the Newport Centre.

Three time European Champion (2011, 2015 and 2017) and world championship medallist (2013, 2015, 2017), Joe Ward of Ireland, and 2016 GB Boxing Champion, Cyrus Pattinson, have been confirmed in the Lionhearts team that will compete on the night.

GB Boxing agrees new charity partnership with Sheffield Futures

GB Boxing has agreed a partnership with local youth charity, Sheffield Futures, to support its work in the community which uses sport and boxing to engage with young people and aims to improve the life chances of those from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.

British Lionhearts to box in Liverpool, Wales and the North East of England in 2018 season of WSB

The British Lionhearts are going on tour for the 2018 season of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) when the team will compete in Gateshead, Liverpool and Newport.

The decision to take the team out of London for the three group stage matches will give fight fans in the North East, Liverpool and South Wales an opportunity to see local favourites from the GB Boxing squad compete in their hometowns.
