Wel well well…..I saw this coming. I had a gut feeling this kid was going to beat Cotto. Cotto hasn’t been the same since those two brutal loses to Margarito and Pacman. And he took some vicious shots in the fight with Mayweather as well. I don’t know what fight many were watching when they said he gave Mayweather hell. They must have been watching a different fight than what I was watching. Mayweather got a bloody nose because he went toe to toe with him and folks looked at that like he was giving him hell. Cotto only won about three rounds in that fight. I don’t call that giving someone hell. He’s done and should retire. Nothing left to prove!!!!

What is Cotto… 32? … Wladimir is 36 and Sergio is almost 38.. Floyd will be 36 when he fights Guerrero.. If you can’t fight at 32 somethings wron.. That should be your peak.

I have to say I like Trout’s chances against Cotto – and let’s face it if Trout can’t beat an ageing almost over-the-hill boxer like Cotto then he’s got no future as a world champ!

Guerrero Is Wannabe MMA Figther

The good news for Trout is Cotto is an overrated fighter who hasn’t beaten anyone elite. But, Trout isn’t exactly elite is he? No Clout Trout loses this one because his credentials are worse than Cotto’s.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Trout won this one. I truly believe the only reason why this fight is being set up is because Cotto’s people believe Trout is an easy victory. I believe this fight was set up to give Cotto a break from all the recent hard fights he’s had. The two fights with Margarito and the fight with Pacman took something out of him. He isn’t the same. Retirement is in the near future. He’s even hinted at it himself with the talks of wanting to spend more time with his kids. The fight with Mayweather wasn’t easy either. He put up a galant effort in that fight; but he took some wicked licks in that fight as well.

I’d go for Cotto myself.

How can you guys pretend to pick this fight without The Greatest Windbag of all times guidance?

Posted December 1, 2012 1:04 pm

This fight comes down to one thing: Austin Trout must prove, early, that he can fight at the elite level of the sport, because that’s what it takes to beat Cotto. And if he doesn’t have the goods good luck to him, because Cotto doesn’t just beat 2nd tier fighters, he absolutely wrecks them.

Holyfield being religious must have been a con, or a temporary thing. So what does the “greatest prophet boxrodamus say about the outcome of trout-cotto? or will we find out later? Maybe he’s predicted each to win in different postings.

Joseph- I don’t feel insulted by other people’s religious beliefs, but I do get annoyed when they carry on with their religion as if they were holier than the rest of us for it (or as if God were choosing you over your opponent). Being religious didn’t make Evander Holyfield any better of a person at the end of the day, did it? Or stop Pacquiao from cheating on his wife and it doesn’t stop Andre Ward from coming in with his head either. So you’re religious? Fine, live like a saint. I’m all for that, I just don’t want to hear it over and over. BTW, Cotto starts every fight with a prayer in the corner too, so there you go.

Prayer is good because you never wish any fighter to get badly hurt…..I’m ready for a changing of the guard…get some new fighters in the mix….i just don’t want it to be at Cotto’s expense……but we need champs willing to fight each other at all weights

“What’s wrong with beginning a boxing article with a bible verse?” Nothing.

I’m still picking Trout to beat Cotto by Decision. It’s going to be a tough fight for both men.

Thanks, db…it is fitting to begin Mr. Trout’s article with a prayer, because “No Doubt” does everything postitive in the name of the Lord.

To any fighter and anyone who understands the sport, boxing is viewed as a positive thing, and not something solely based on violence.

It’s about sportsmanship and athleticism…not violence. To most of these fighters who came from humble beginnings, the sport saved their lives and taught them discipline, confidence, humility…basically all of the principles and lessons you need to succeed in life.

And yes, anyone who plays sports realizes that the players and coaches always begin every game, match, or bout with a prayer…the crowd in attendance used to participate in it before people started to gain a sense of hostility regarding prayer…for some strange reason. I still can’t understand that one.

Why would anyone feel insulted regarding prayer from any religion? That’s something I’ll never be able to understand.

Trout by TKO Round 9

???WTF, I’ve never seen a sporting event start with a prayer!! Where and when does this happen?

Posted December 1, 2012 9:30 am

Well Joseph, the problem is that there seems to be more fighting in the name of God than love. Terrorists also call themselves “Soldier of God.” I’m pretty sure God would rather be left out of both businesses.

What’s wrong with beginning a boxing article with a bible verse? Most sporting events begin with prayer. Please explain.
