Cotto is the ” last of the mohicans”, a true warrior without a doubt and tumbo is still promoting Cheato who couldn’t even KO a Tijuana cab driver after being busted.Posted March 13, 2014 7:47 am
Boy, would I like to see this fight live. It will be one for the history books.Posted March 12, 2014 8:54 pm
Welterweight against middleweight, will this be another Trinidad-Hopkins?Posted March 12, 2014 10:49 am
te tumbo – You have to remember how much Cotto has accomplished, who’s he been in the ring with, who he’s defeated and who’s defeated him…he is LEAGUES above Canelo in accomplishments, and yet, he is still hungry for more by going UP in weight in attempt to win a title in his fourth division. Call it “career preservation” or what have you, bottom line is that Cotto is a future HOFer and by NO means is he choosing a “soft touch” over a 10 million…Canelo himself turned down a fight with Martinez saying “his style won’t make for a fan friendly fight”…and you’re saying Cotto is scared? Hmm. Okay.Posted March 11, 2014 6:40 pm
the marketability factor is a cop-out. you either want to see the best competition or wealthy fighters. IMO, they are not mutually-exclusive except that the best competition results in a fight-fan’s money’s-worth.Posted March 11, 2014 4:29 pm
I like Cotto and have great respect for him as a champion but I just don’t see him beating Maravilla, hell even Canelo.Posted March 11, 2014 4:05 pm
Canelo agreed to face Angulo on the cheap. Cotto won’t dare face Canelo for a guaranteed $10 million. the stark contrast between respective career challenges says it all.Posted March 11, 2014 3:32 pm
TITOPA, as long as you don’t dare question the predictable outcome: Canelo by KO or TKO. that’s the point. i could care less about heir respective earnings or bank accounts.Posted March 11, 2014 3:30 pm
I agree Canelo is nothing compare to what Cotto have done! Canelo had his chance with Floyd and he didn’t stack up to Cotto. Floyd had an easy night with Canola than Cotto.Posted March 11, 2014 3:30 pm
Canelo made just over a million vs Angulo, so much for his “PPV star” status, we’ll see what the PPV numbers are….if they’re anything like his purse, than he’s clearly a “PPV star wannabe”. Canelo is the one in NEED, not the other way around.Posted March 11, 2014 2:21 pm
te tumbo – Canelo needs Cotto, not the other way around. Cotto doesn’t need to help this kid, Cotto is on to bigger and better things, beating Martinez will only open doors for him, which is a possible rematch with Floyd.Posted March 11, 2014 2:19 pm
“Haven’t you been watching him fight?” i don’t think so. Messyhoe’s head is too deeply stuffed into his own crusty ass-crack.Posted March 11, 2014 10:45 am
“what has Canelo done to be worthy of a Huge Payday with an Elite Like Cotto?”
Haven’t you been watching him fight?Posted March 11, 2014 10:18 am
“what has Canelo done to be worthy of a Huge Payday with an Elite Like Cotto?” box the trunks off of a “shocked” Trout who beat and punched the stuffing out of Cotto. moreover, Canelo has cash-in-hand. $10 million guaranteed to be exact. not counting back-end profits. there is also a thoroughly deflated “rivalry” that used to be the pride of Puelto Lico. nowadays, they wish they could forget they ever heard of Mexico. unfortunately, Mexican ring-warriors keep on walking on to rican beaches, kicking sand in the faces of “Tai-Iiino” legends, champions, contenders, and has-beens (e.g., Calderon, JuanMono, “Chicanito” Vasquez Jr., Rosado, Seda, etc., Etc., ETC.), and forcing them to their knees . . . Golpe tras golpe, el campeon Mexicano Pone Temblar a su “rival” borinquen.Posted March 11, 2014 9:59 am
Only one is old… That’s Martinez… Cotto is still in his prime.Posted March 11, 2014 2:19 am
This is a fight between two old warriors with Cotto being the more deserving HOFamer. MSG should be full of Cotto backers since it’s his backyard. As far as what each has left, it’s hard to say. Cotto’s last fight was a mirage due to his opponent being intimidated and not really wanting to fight. Cotto looked better than he really is. Martinez on the other hand looked awful. He was slow, had no legs and should have received a loss. Martinez has been out for a year, which at his age and hi style of boxing is not good. This is a toss up IMHO. The names and legacies of both fighter will carry this fight in terms of PPV numbers. If I had to pick, I’ll give Martinez a slight edge due to his southpaw boxing style. Don’t underestimate Cotto though, he will have a packed house with lots of energy pushing him on as Roberto Duran had against Davey Moore years ago. An interesting fight even though it’ five years too latePosted March 11, 2014 2:07 am
“he’s not going to make anywhere near $10 million v. Martinez and will most likely be KTFO in 10.”
I doubt Martinez will KTFO Cotto, te tumbo. Roach is probably training Cotto to apply constant pressure in hopes that he can wear Martinez down, realizing that Sergio has displayed some serious stamina problems in his last several fights. And Sergio hasn’t exactly been displaying an iron chin either, nor much durability–both Murray and Chavez Jr. lit him up and almost took him out. Cotto has the power to do that. Plus, Sergio’s been getting injured a lot–serious injuries–that happens when a fighter gets really tired and his muscles are fatigued.
I give the early rounds to Martinez, the middle rounds to Cotto, and the last four goes to whoever gasses out last. I’m thinking both men will go down but it will be a 12-round fight.Posted March 11, 2014 1:29 am
Bearcat, you still didn’t answer why Martinez didn’t rematch margarito if he was wash up fight when cotto / pac fought him, margarito beat up Martinez every round till the 10 when they threw in the towel, watch the tube, if he was wash up Martinez would have wanted revenge.Posted March 11, 2014 1:24 am
I know jack Martinez will rehydrate a few lb. but We see…. Cotto boxing skill will keep Martinez at bay, prett sure cotto defense will prevent a knock down, and Martinez low has will not work but be a disadvantage on cotto pluses cotto body shots will hit and Martinez body don’t hold up very well anymore, but we see come fight nigh, it’s should be a good close fight, we are free to pick who we want just no name calling when we don’t see eye to eye it’s just a match that 50-50Posted March 11, 2014 1:16 am
may weather did it only onces , Martinez has be calling out fighter for the last 4 years in a roll, a bully, he over weigh them couple class above .and will not fight fighter at 165 lb 7 lb above
To Mike Tyson ,,like i said Cotto is a great fighter .and he knows all the tricks in the world and any thing Martinez brings ,,Cotto already knows ,,i was just mentioning about their chin . Martinez did take some big shots from a huge Middle weight in Kelly Pavlick …Chavez Jr. was a very huge Middle weight also . don’t forget Martinez is actually a true Jr. Middleweight .Posted March 11, 2014 1:07 am
To Tyson , your remark shows your stupidity ,,right away you resolve the issue by using the Your Mama calling ,,if you want to argue the issue about fighters being a bully ,,what fighter hasn’t been a bully ,,look at Mayweather fighting Marquez and coming in over weight ,Thomas Hearns if you know who that is was one of the biggest bully’s i have ever seen ,Lennox Lewis was a bully but as soon as a fighter his size gave him a tough fight ( Vatali Klitschko ) he retire .Posted March 11, 2014 12:57 am
Jack, maybe, but cotto surely has the better defense both hands in front and he fight well this way one hand blocking, it’s a very good habit and he takes most of the punches on the glove. Martinez has the right jab low, copy Floyd, it’s don’t work as you slow down that legs work. Or if that fight is watch that low right, cotto know this trick, he did well with Floyd low left, see Martinez want to piss of his apponate so they aren’t watching the low right so he would pop it all night in there face its set up his hard left. Cotto and top fighter don’t fall for this old boxer trick.Posted March 11, 2014 12:49 am
He say I will beat up cotto because Iam bigger, not Iam a better fighter or more skilled, so he depends on rehydrating another 8 lb come fight night that what bigger guys do gain ever advantage .
Miguel Cotto is a great fighter ,,but i never found him to have a sturdy chin ,,he has been hurt a number of times ,,Zab Juda had him hurt and Demarcus Corley had him in trouble so did Joshua Clottey as well as Antonio Margarito had him in big trouble and of course Pacquiao stop him and Mayweather had him in trouble in the last three rounds . so i think Martinez has the better chin .Posted March 11, 2014 12:41 am
Bearcat, don’t Change the subject. mike Tyson is just a name, yo mama was stolen from me.
To Mike Tyson you are as dumb as the real Mike Tyson and full of hot air .. You talk of a fighter being a bully but yet your hero was the biggest bully of them all . and what happens to bully’s when someone stands up to them ,they start to quit or turn tail just like the real Mike Tyson did against Holy Field and Lennox Lewis .Posted March 11, 2014 12:29 am
Bearcat, if margarito was wash up before manny and later cotto.but Manny fought margarito after he rehydrated to 163 lb fight night. And beat him up, he went in a Mexican and came out a Chinese .
Cheatin Chihuahuas De Messyhoe
Canelo couldn’t stop a broken, shot, old, slow as Mollases Angulo while weighing 174+lbs and you think he’s going to beat those guys??? LOL , get off of the Canelo Koolaid.. it’ll rot your little Chihuahua brain.
Ha…… Good one……….Posted March 10, 2014 11:58 pm
I See same gang that was so sure Vera would beat up jr chevez badly is back. We know how that went. Chevez beat the stuffing out of vera beginning to end. But true most strong men payed their respect After fight, some disappear. Nobody giving cotto credit to facing the bully that has been calling him out for years and he 1 weight class lower. Martinez will rehydrate 8 lb more fight night.
Cotto has both hands high, and block and punch, Martinez low jab stance is open for cotto hook.
To Messy Hoe ,,, You say that Cotto is not fighting bums or wash up fighters ,,,well who do you think Delvin Rodriguez was ,,and what do you think Antonio Margarito was ..Margarito a brave warrior at one time ,was literately a wash up fighter when he fought Cotto in the second fight .Posted March 10, 2014 11:04 pm
The Mad Scientist
everyone knows that if Martinez was looking like his old self we wouldn’t even be discussing this bout right now much less the fight happening..this is just Cotto being an opportunist usuing what’s left of his popularity to hopefully score himself a win on what he and his fans think might be a vulnerable Martinez..Im gonna be laughing my ass off when it back fires in their face..Lol!Posted March 10, 2014 11:01 pm
Puerto Ricans say that Canelo didn’t deserve title fight against Mayweather after beating Austin Trout ,,but yet feel Miguel Cotto deserves title shot against Martinez after losing against Austin Trout . Some one please explain this to me .Posted March 10, 2014 10:52 pm
cotto is a very good boxer , but shopworn from some of his bouts with loaded margo and Pacman. See what Sergio has left.Posted March 10, 2014 10:50 pm
I would like to know how a fighter that has lost 2 fights out of 3 gets a world title shot ,,in the case of Miguel Cotto ,,and the only win in them 3 fights was against a ESPN fighter .Posted March 10, 2014 10:44 pm
The Facts !
How much money did Miguel Cotto make for his last fight against Delvin Rodriguez .Posted March 10, 2014 10:40 pm
Everyone realizes that cotto has beaten no one above 140 that matters (old mosely just barely if), right? He got schooled by trout at 154 ffs. Even an old broken martinez wrecks himPosted March 10, 2014 10:23 pm

Porfavor!, Cotto ain’t no great, HOF’er at best..Canelo is on his way to being great if he can get Martinez, Lara, Kirkland Quillin and triple G under his belt within the next couple of years..all winnable fight for Kid Cinnamon IMO, he’s only getting better..Posted March 10, 2014 9:35 pm
allow me to clarify: Cotto DUCKED Canelo and has been ducking Canelo for the past couple of years, plain and simple. he’s not going to make anywhere near $10 million v. Martinez and will most likely be KTFO in 10. serves him right. he just better cross his fingers that Canelo doesn’t show up in the Mexican territory of Puelto Lico to beat his ass senseless anyway.Posted March 10, 2014 8:44 pm
a matchup between Canelo and Cotto would’ve been the perfect combination of greatness and profitability. $10 million guaranteed to be exact and that’s just Cotto’s cut. instead, Cotto forfeited the “rivalry” and avoided being punched-out by the best 154lbr in boxing. he’s now banking that a broken-down Martinez won’t beat him down too severely so that he can retire in one piece. i guess that’s what passes for fighting-heart in U.S. territories.Posted March 10, 2014 8:41 pm
Good fight, dudes, but I think Martinez is going to get the win!Posted March 10, 2014 7:13 pm
Cotto is going 2 have 2 eat a lot of shots 2 get this win….Posted March 10, 2014 6:32 pm
Cotto had best start growing if he’s 2 catch Sergio with jabs or hooks 2 the body….Sergio wins this riding the coat tails of his long straight left lead….Posted March 10, 2014 6:31 pm
Speed kills.. Cotto will be much faster come fight night.. Martinez will get caught with a lot of jabs and hooks to the body until he can’t dance anymore. Cotto still has a few years left. Prime Martinez can mercifully stop Cotto.. This older version.. Negative!Posted March 10, 2014 6:21 pm
is this in the theater or big room? better be big room…Posted March 10, 2014 6:18 pm
“I mean those are big works calling 50% of fighter not knowing boxing, decribe why Martinez style would win, in boxing therms not feeling……” – Fans of Cotto will say he’s got a good chance. They’re knowledgeable but they’re fans, which is why I noted the objectivity issue. Martinez is bigger, stronger and faster than Cotto. His footwork is better and his southpaw stance creates angle issues. Today’s version of Cotto is a depleted one who’s been pounded by lesser fighters than Martinez. There’s just no area that Cotto is better.Posted March 10, 2014 5:54 pm

Wrong cotto pulls a upset, they will be no knock down! cotto has a strong jaw he can take a better punch than martinez. the best defense both hand up high and he leaves one blocking always, on the other hand Martinez is counting cotto will not see that low jab of his, but cotto know how to watch that low hand block most of Floyd low jab, glove punch.
