“Nobody is ever really correct except, drum roll, Tumbo”
LOL. Well, I was disappointed. I really expected Angulo to put on a better performance. I didn’t favor him to win in any way shape or form, but I didn’t expect him to look like he did either.
Tell you what though, I’m lovin’ Leo Santa Cruz. The kid just gets better and better.Posted March 12, 2014 9:35 pm
Well, Kid Blast, Angulo was visibly non-energetic. I mean he was downright lethargic, his punches had no pop. I was surprised he could stand on his own power for 10 rounds. I don’t disagree with what you’re saying about him being in too many wars, but I don’t think that was the determining factor in this fight. I think was a great disadvantage because of his poor physical condition which of course adversely affected his mental condition as well.Posted March 12, 2014 2:17 pm
How about you, Tark? Same question I asked Kid Blast.Posted March 12, 2014 10:25 am
“The outcome of this fight was written in stone and the only issue remaining was whether Hunter or Weeks would save Angulo from himself…”
Would you say Angulo over-trained, Kid Blast, or that he just didn’t recuperate from making weight, or a combination of both?Posted March 12, 2014 10:24 am

Hunter is a terrible coach, absolutely awful. The crap he was talking to Angulo in-between rounds was scandalous.Posted March 11, 2014 4:10 am
Angulo was NOT coming on strong at the stoppage of the fight! However, I DO disagree with the stoppage. There was no reason to stop that fight!! I called my friend after the first round and told him that the fight was fixed!! I am not taking anything away from Canelo, who looked exceptional and who deserves SUPERSTAR STATUS!! But considering who is promoting this fight and Angulos’ lack of interest in winning, I question the legitimacy of this fight.Posted March 11, 2014 1:28 am
Angulo was tough for Lara.. I couldn’t believe it.
That was amazing.. But Angulo isn’t that good even though he gave Lara a scare.. Anyone who saw AA’s fights with Kirkland and Cintron wouldn’t think he could reach Lara … But AA was taking and eventually Lara had him.
Lara is better now.. His defense is coming up.. Being exposed to Rigondeaux and the Charlo Bros helps unbelievably… Canelo doesn’t get work like that.Posted March 10, 2014 8:36 pm
not unlike Mayweather, Canelo made defeating Angulo look easy. otherwise, Angulo wasn’t so easy for Lara to contain.Posted March 10, 2014 7:48 pm

How on earth are you guys going to predict the result of a fight, when it has more INTANGIBLES if you don’t have the necessary IQ to be able to correctly identify a post from BOXTRADAMUS?
It is as clear as day that the likes of Boxtra, TARK, Gonzo and a few others have their handles hijacked from time to time from mischievous no-gooders, intent on discrediting them, but even a five year old with a rudimentary understanding of patterns is able to identify if the posts are from a real or fake poster.
Do your homework before calling out posters on whether they are the real deal or imposters, but on the evidence of most of the posters here they couldn’t even tie their own shoelaces properly, let alone get a fight prediction or analysis or even break down a post fight analysis correctly.
You all need to get back to kindergarten with that he said, she said rubbish. You’re all a bunch of needy girls.Posted March 10, 2014 7:45 am

Who says Floyd was 150 against Canelo? 160+ is a better guess.Posted March 10, 2014 7:04 am
To think angulo threw the fight is a stretch of the imagination. He did look bad and he definitely had a fraction of his usual power, but in reality, this is most likely due to him being injured, totally shot,overtrained/incorrectly trained by Hunter, getting hurt to the body in round one,or most likely,a combination of all of these factors.I thought Angulo would have the engine and power to cause an upset, but to be fair to Red,even though Angulo looked shot, red did lay it on him from the first bell and had a great gameplan. We now need to see canelo clean out the division. Then move up to 160 in about 18 months.Posted March 10, 2014 6:40 am
Canelo is a strong young beast who is still learning the game. Yes he was schooled by Floyd but he schools everyone. Canelo should have used his weight and got Floyd on the ropes swarm him like Cotto did off the jab. Canelo tried to counter and outbox his that’s impossible. Plus Canelo needs to work on his stamina he takes breaks during rounds that’s no good with a world class guy because they will exploit that crap. But all in all he has a bright future. GGG or Lara would be big…Posted March 10, 2014 2:41 am
That was the most impressive Canelo has ever looked. I thought it was gonna be a damn good fight with Angulo having a good chance. Boy, was I wrong! Canelo’s hand speed was the big difference in this fight. His punches were just too quick and crisp for Angulo. It also seems like the Lara fight took a lot out of El Perro. Now that GGG is ducking Lara, Canelo/Lara is an obvious fight to be made next. After last night I also give Canelo more of a chance vs Lara than I had before.Posted March 10, 2014 2:28 am
Virgil Hunter is a pathetic excuse for a trainer that doesn’t care for the safety of his fighter at all. Andre Ward is pretty much self taught and a genius at what he does little wonder why Hunter doesn’t have success with anyone else he’s ever coached. the last time I checked the IP’s of users here, some post under multiple names, some says someone is using their name… oh well, I know who posted who.Posted March 10, 2014 1:46 am
No one has mentioned that Angulo was nearly killed in the ring against Kirkland and will NEVER be the same, along with having Virgil Hunter as his trainer which is all wrong for a fighter of Angulos tempermant.
There was nothing on Angulos punches because he is completely shot and needs to retire..I’m sorry perro I loved you as a fierce warrior but all the wars have caught up to you my man.
At the very least Angulo should move up in weight.
Canelo showed good speed punch accuracy and variety great combination punching and excellent defense and head movement, sure his opponent allowed it but it was still impressive..GGG would be a good matchup for Canelo..his handlers would never make the fight of course but canelo is much faster then GGG with much better footwork and head movementPosted March 10, 2014 1:13 am

Hunter is trying to save face. Each time Angulo tried to make a push Canelo would make him miss and comeback with his combination attacks. Angulo was busted up and wasn’t going to come back. He is to slow, to predictable, and just didn’t have enough for Canelo.Posted March 9, 2014 10:37 pm

Boxing thanks in part to Golden Boy Promotions, is nothing more and nothing less than a cesspool of corruption. We’ve all seen how much Gatti withstood and won, how much Israel Vasquez withstood and won and Jorge Arce and many others. It’s the nature of the sport. It’s strange yet not surprising why this fight was halted just as it was getting better. Whenever GBP is involved, expect nothing less than cesspool standard. Like Floyd, they want to make easy money all the while claiming ignorance but employing shenanigans in the hopes their tired tricks and perceptions will be viewed as reality. Boxing is a joke of a sport; but more in line with entertainment like the circus.Posted March 9, 2014 9:34 pm

i want to point out some fact, canelo fought trout and won, or if you want to dispute the win its okay, whats important is that he fought him.he fought mayweather even at a weight of 152 but at his age he took on the best.he was in line to fight paul williams and we know why that fight didnt take place.he was in line to fight kirkland and they didnt fight because of kirkland demanding more money or have promotional issues with gbp.the point of this post is that he has and was in line to fight the very best and for a kid his age thats more than impressive.if you can find reasons to hate this kid its very simple. your either a hater or are jelous of his accomplishmentsPosted March 9, 2014 8:54 pm

Cheatin Chihuahuas De Messyhoe, reveal your source of Canelo coming in 174+ pounds or shut up.Posted March 9, 2014 8:24 pm
The rehydration limit was 168lbs, as stated by Joseph Herron yesterday:
there was a monetary agreement made before the weigh-in from Team Canelo to Team Angulo in the amount of $100K for the increased weight limit of 155 pounds.
Also, Virgil Hunter made a stipulation in the agreement that Canelo cannot weigh in greater than 168 pounds at a “next day” weigh in, which takes place at 3PM PST tomorrow.
If Canelo weighs in larger than 168 pounds, another monetary penalty will have to be made to Team Angulo.

“Coming on strong? The man was receiving sledge hammers all night from every conceivable angle. They arrest people in some states for beating a man this badly. Virgil needs to be drug tested.”
Spot on, Hecdog. I fight it quite incredible that Hunter didn’t want it stopped when his fighter was shipping punishment like that. As the writer says, Angulo was little more than a heavybag for Canelo, who was unloading serious headshots all night. That’s the sort of fight that really needs to be stopped in order to protect fighters from potentially serious brain damage.
So much for Hunter’s supposed compassion for his fighters, not to mention his reputed ability to teach them advanced defensive skills.Posted March 9, 2014 7:23 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)
There are a lot of guys making it sounds like Lara is unbeatable at 154lbs. Please! Keep in mind that he lost to Paul Williams, and failed to beat Vanes and Molina — neither of whom I’d rate as class-A fighters. Lara also darn near got stopped (knocked down twice) by the slow, plodding Angulo.
Angulo got beat plain and simple. Not much of a game plan if all you do is come forward with the face defense.Posted March 9, 2014 5:37 pm
Angulo didn’t look that bad… He said he trained to a fine tuned edge and was in the best shape of his life. But to me, Angulo looked slightly drained, and so did Canelo. They didn’t fight like it though. Canelo showed amazing energy.. Of course, if you’re missing a ton of punches it tires you out more.. Canelo was finding the mark with good accuracy.
In any fight where one fighter is taking a beating, two referees are often going to stop the fight at different times. They’re using different judgments.
Steve Smogger would have stopped it later — Richard Steel would maybe have stepped in earlier
Just like two judges will often score a close round differently … or in the cases of Duane Ford and C J Ross, they might score a lopsided round differently than most judges.
In this fight you had one fighter being badly outboxed and badly beaten.. Hunter was already talking about stopping the fight between rounds.. You do that in these cases.. Because if your boxer DOESN’T want to continue, he knows he has your support.
The worst thing is when a boxer wants to quit—and his seconds start questioning his courage… I like the way Weeks stopped the Provodnikov-Alvarado fight by screaming at Alvarado’s seconds to “SHUT UP!!” and then asked Mike Alvarado what he wanted to do.
If you have less than a 1% chance to win; or if you’re taking potentially permanent damage; the courageous thing to do is quit.. It’s OK to lose a fight.. Floyd Patterson sought counseling because he took defeat so hard and so personally.. A priest told him, “Try to be a good loser. God calls on you to be faithful—not successful.” … Floyd said that helped him.
You can fight until you’re 40 without a major drop off in performance — unless you ship too much damage. Trying to win when all is lost is a major reason guys get badly hurt.Posted March 9, 2014 5:33 pm

Anonymous… that’s the way I saw it. Surely even if you’re drained/shot/outclassed/whatever you can still throw ONE solid shot over 10 rounds?! Angulo may not have the power of Sonny Liston but he definitely hits harder than Mallignaggi. – Hell, even Paulie’s punches looked harder than Angulo’s!………I can understand why commentators on Boxnation/HBO/Showtime etc. can’t make these accusations (they’d get their asses sued) but the fans can, if that’s how they see it.Posted March 9, 2014 5:16 pm
“Coming on strong?”
This is the same trainer who said he’d stop it if Canelo landed a combination. The punch that stopped the fight was only one punch short.
I think it was stopped early, but irrelevant point. Canelo was landing combos all night. Probably would have landed one soon after they stopped it anyway.Posted March 9, 2014 5:10 pm
Jack Dempsey…I hope you’re right, it’s certainly possible. I’d rather that than being conned by a promotional company intent on creating their own theatre in a bid to maintain the shine of their cash cow. It DOES happen in boxing – just ask La Motta.Posted March 9, 2014 4:57 pm
i dont know about fixed, seeing angulos head snapped back like for nearly the whole fight nearly had me praying for him….man, after the fight was over he looked like a bobblehead.Posted March 9, 2014 4:53 pm
Actually Angulo threw a couple of hard punches. But when Canelo nailed him in the head and the body in the first round he deflated Angulo. It happens. I have seen it happen before. Angulo didn’t have much in it after that. He would occasional throw a hard punch but then Canelo retaliated with more body blows and once again took the energy from Angulo.Posted March 9, 2014 4:51 pm
the fight was not fixed , and the stoppage was a good one. I believe Angulo’s power may have been somewhat over rated. I stated in one of my posts the other day that I thought Floyd was a harder puncher then Angulo. Canelo looked good but Angulo ‘s style was made to order for Canelo. the fight was a confidence builder for Canelo coming off of his schooling at the hands of Floyd.Posted March 9, 2014 4:49 pm
Angulo looked drain at Fridays weigh in ,,he could possibly have been over train ,,when you are over train you lose your power and the snap in your punches . He looked like a fighter that left it all in the gym .Posted March 9, 2014 4:39 pm

PEEJ… A seasoned tough guy like Angulo was incapable of throwing one solid punch during a 10 round fight? Really? even a shadow of Tyson made a few powerful wild swings during his beating against Lewis. So did Abraham while getting schooled against Ward, Froch and Dirrell. Frazier against Foreman, Lacy against Calzaghe etc etc… Maybe Angulo is completely shot and has nothing left. Or maybe he got paid off.Posted March 9, 2014 4:30 pm

Shane, Canelos record is better than GGGs, heck you could even make that same argument for Chavez. Not saying either beat GGG but their records are better.Posted March 9, 2014 3:50 pm
thats what happens when you get hit hard to the body and it deflates you. Have you seen a helium balloon fly with no helium in it? Same thing happened to Angulo. Watch the first few punches of Canelo to the head and body and look at Angulos expression from those punches. That shows it all. He would occasionally throw a hard punch but then he would get tagged in the body and would once again be drained. That is what body punches do to youPosted March 9, 2014 3:49 pm
Chavez and Canelo are just frauds with a “built-in” large fan base. GGG destroys both, retires Cotto and the slowed version of Maravilla. 174 lbs? And still Angulo went 10 from the “huge” puncher? Kirkland annihilated Vera and Angulo at LOWER weights. I want GGG vs all of the above-mentioned. He could even let Chavez weigh in at 168 and batter him in frightening fashion in 6. He is has zero defense. Canelo has no stamina and overrated power. Cotto is shot. Maravilla lost to that Englishmen, basically has been living off a close win over a Pavlik in his way to rehab and one punch vs PW. Bring us better matchups.Posted March 9, 2014 3:49 pm
Canelo was only needing to weight that at 3pm fight day and from what they said he did. Canelo handles Lara.Posted March 9, 2014 3:46 pm

I could care less what Floyd Sr says. You can barely understand him. So then does he think Canelo threw the fight against Floyd? Canelo looked nothing like that against Floyd. I bet he would say Canelo looked that way because of Floyd. Angulo looked that way because of Canelo. Just deal with it.Posted March 9, 2014 3:42 pm

That same Cuban pride that had him draw against Molina and Vanes? lol. Yeah ok, Ill take Canelo by a clear decision or stoppage. And then in the post fight conference they made Lara look embarrassed when he went up to the podium to challenge Canelo. Canelo asked if anybody wanted to see it and only Laras manager raised his hand. lolPosted March 9, 2014 3:40 pm
That is exactly what happened, he immediately had Angulos energy sucked out by those hard head and body punches he immediately landed. After the first body blow you saw Angulo look deflated.Posted March 9, 2014 3:38 pm
When Lacy took a beating from Calzaghe, he was never allowed an opportunity to plant his feet and throw some serious, hurtful punches, but at least you could see he was swinging, and trying to put full power in his punches. Unfortunately Angulo showed zero attempt to do the same against Canelo last night. Even when he was fresh at the start of the fight. Either Canelo immediately sucked the whole fight out of him with his higher level skills, preventing him from throwing one single decent punch (really?) Or Angulo got paid off to ensure Canelo (the cash cow) looked great.Posted March 9, 2014 3:36 pm
Canelo beats Lara, may even KO him.Posted March 9, 2014 3:34 pm
I did make my point. Folks on here sound ridiculous trying to say fights are fixed because they didn’t turn out the way some of yall thought they would or yall are quick to say someone is over hyped or some nonsense like that with out throwing out anything that supports than. Saying the Trinidad vs Hopkins fight was fixed says all I need to know. And it is you know nothing.Posted March 9, 2014 3:33 pm
That right he want no part of Lara. Canelo had the nerve to say he could of went 10 more rds, and he don’t know why the ref stopped the fight. Of course you could of went 10 more rds against someone who is not fighting you.Posted March 9, 2014 3:32 pm
Canelo wants absolutely NO PARTS of Erislandy Lara. NONE.Posted March 9, 2014 3:28 pm
Angulo did worst then a sparring partner and still had the crowd on his side. The martyr steal the show.Posted March 9, 2014 3:26 pm
He had no intention of making weight, if so he had way more prep time for this fight.Posted March 9, 2014 3:22 pm
once again, no mayweather in the ring, looks like a lion;
PEE it my opinion, you don’t have to like. But who to say it wasn’t fixed. You are just a spectator of the sport like everyone else on this thread. Make you point on move on.Posted March 9, 2014 3:20 pm
Hunter is a stupid idiot.periodPosted March 9, 2014 3:17 pm
That may have been too Hidalg0 but those punches he took right off the bat in the first minute where crazy power shots. I think that had more to do with it than him actually making weight.Posted March 9, 2014 3:15 pm
If I was cotto, I wouldn’t fight this blow up doll. Why would I fight a guy who doesn’t make weight and blow up between 170-175 lbs and should be fighting in super middleweight another chavez Jr., and Salido.Posted March 9, 2014 3:15 pm
Ah so now we want to say the Trinidad vs Hopkins fight was also fixed. lol. Do you not remember them already putting Titos name on the trophy before he even won the fight. They had to change it when Hopkins won. Hopkins got no respect until beating Tito. That is plain ridiculous. You know nothing if you that is what you actually think. If you think fights are fixed then watch another sport.Posted March 9, 2014 3:14 pm
Alfredo wasn’t “coming on.” But something was wrong with him because he didn’t look right or act right from the opening bell. He was tentative and for much of the fight his punches were not thrown with authority. I really wonder if he wasn’t the one suffering from problems with making weight.Posted March 9, 2014 3:10 pm
I agree , Angulo was hurt in the first Rd ,He was relying on having something in the later rounds but Canelo beat it out of him .
only Lara’s lack of superiority made a depleted Angulo look formidable. otherwise, Canelo demonstrated the true gap between that Angulo and the 154lb-elite. Kirkland did too. Cotto wants none of the above.Posted March 9, 2014 3:07 pm
This fight was fixed. This fight had an eerie feeling to it when the WBC president is talking to a fighter before the fight. It reminded me of when Trinidad fought Hopkins and the NY boxing commissioner went to Trinidad locker room to talk before the fight. Both Angulo and Trinidad fought coming forward punching with out intention and with the look on there face of sadness and discuss.Posted March 9, 2014 3:05 pm
If that is what you think a thrown fight looks like then you are ridiculous. Watch Butterbean fights. Those are thrown fights.Posted March 9, 2014 2:52 pm
Angulos lost his power because of the punches from the 1st round. Canelo unleashed some powerful head and body shots that took Angulos power away from him.Posted March 9, 2014 2:43 pm
Fight wasn’t fixed. Angulo had improved towards the end but he was not coming on. Maybe if the fight was 20 rounds. But it wasn’t and Canelo was beating Angulo down.Posted March 9, 2014 2:42 pm
This fight was not fixed. The only thing that was fixed was canelo fists against angulos face. Hunter needs to leave that stuff alone. Angulo was getting beat from pillar to post.
If angulos corner wasnt competent enough to stop the fight, then the ref was competent. The crowd was booing because they dont care about another fighters health. If Angulo was carried out the ring on a stretcher maybe they would have been satisfied.Posted March 9, 2014 2:41 pm
at first glance it did look like the fight was fixed, to me angulos power shots looked like they had no pop.but after watching the fight unfold i came to the conclusion that i personally it was not.this is what happen when a boxer fights a brawler in the center of the ring.the faster fighter will usually get the best of the exchanges and the brawler who depends more on his power shots cant get off or cant pop do to not moving forward and having the leverage.Posted March 9, 2014 2:39 pm
That’s funny El titere Vasques hit harder than Perro against Canelo. What a bunch crap that people actually believed. Fix fightPosted March 9, 2014 2:38 pm
Angulo felt Canelo’s power in the first round and knew he wouldn’t have a chance to land big punches himself without sacrificing too much.
Great fight for Canelo!Posted March 9, 2014 2:32 pm
That ref stop was just to make controversy to take away of how fix this fight was. Feds needs investigates this bozos of golden boy & company.Posted March 9, 2014 2:30 pm
abouletly there great,had a blast with family and friends….GOOD TIMES.Posted March 9, 2014 2:24 pm
This fight was fix. You can’t say Perron was sick or hurt those punches never had bad intentions. Golden boy peeps have taken boxing to a new level of corruption..Posted March 9, 2014 2:24 pm
Hunter needs his eyes tested.
His boy had his nuts handed to him for almost 10 rounds.
Angulo’s power was manufactured by being fed tomato cans.Posted March 9, 2014 2:19 pm
You cannot accurately predict fights that are fixed, so Vivek and I should be given a pass. Not our fault that Angulo threw baby punches while warming up on the pads in his dressing room, then threw the same baby punches against Saul. A 13 year old girl could put more effort into punches than what Angulo did from the moment the bell rang. Fight was fixed, damn shame!Posted March 9, 2014 2:18 pm
aint ppv great. worth every dollar.Posted March 9, 2014 2:16 pm
Canelo vs lara! Whose the best at 154? Ill take canelo! Especially after tonight im convinced canelo is the best at 154. Angulo almost k.o. lara! Knocked him down w 2 monster left hooks before his face got broke. Props to Lara for fighting back and winning against angulo. But i think canelo k.o. lara late rd tkoPosted March 9, 2014 2:14 pm
Coming on strong? The man was receiving sledge hammers all night from every conceivable angle. They arrest people in some states for beating a man this badly. Virgil needs to be drug tested.Posted March 9, 2014 2:04 pm
