no angulo just had an awesome showing against a goof fighter. kahn is pure feather fisted china chinned garbage through and through. one is tough and rugged and brings it the other kahn brings pretty much nothing accept maybe some uk fans and that remains to be seen

Bears: They are just the same. Khan is a joke, Angulo is a shot fighter.

Posted January 24, 2014 3:35 am

whats funny is canelo is facing a better tougher opponent in angulo than floyd is facing in kahn.

Posted January 23, 2014 11:02 pm

You lose to Floyd and you think you are the future? Bwahahaha!

i for one am not holding Canelo’s loss v. Mayweather against him. i always believed it was very premature and that talent alone isn’t enough to defeat Floyd. however, i also anticipate some size and reach-related limitations for Canelo immediately above 154lbs. i don’t ever see Canelo successfully campaigning above 160lbs. at the moment, Canelo obviously frightens Cotto and i favor Canelo v. any other 154lbr. i also favor him v. Golovkin but if a tall and rangy boxer-puncher ever emerges at 160lbs, Canelo’s is gonna have some problems that will compel him to abandon finesse for more of a Chavez Sr. style that he’s only employed v. the likes of Baldomir or Lopez.

Posted January 23, 2014 7:12 pm

canelo might be a future and might meet 3g one day in an ultimate superfight. fact is canelo is a 23 year old kid lighting people up now a ppv fighter. wladimir klitschko was lighting people up that young too and wlad has progressed a great deal since that time. canelo is already entertaining and a good boxer and fighter. if he continues getting better than 10 years down the road whi knows what this kid will have turned into or how great. he could be a cash cow and goldon boy is sure taking care of him. maybe they think incesting in canelo will pay dividends. i think it will but it remains to be seen

Posted January 23, 2014 6:27 pm

Angulo is a shot fighter. Canelo will come out like a great fighter. Canola is fighting an expired fighter! Yup and you are the future of boxing.

Posted January 23, 2014 6:04 pm

i will watch this for sure and pac vs bradley. gonna be good fights. wont be watching the floyd vs kahn forgone conclusion. leave that to the african amero fanbase of floyd and the islander kahn fan base if kahn even has much of one

One thing I’ll never understand: Why the heck does Angulo call himself dog?! And I don’t wanna hear it’s because he attacks viciously like a dog.

i thought angulos mobility looked severly lacking against lara too but lara style seems to depend on keeping his distance and range. angulo closing that gap and fighting in the inside was the perfect strategy and one that trout could not employ if he wanted to. angulo was on his way to winning that fight just being a total dog. i dont recall angulo vs kirkland the best but didnt they both hurt eachother or both known for some power? i think old el perro was goin shaved head back then. im a canelo fan and hipe he looks good but i wish angulo well too. really a crappy shame getting that hematoma. beating lara would have been massive for him and he was beating lara if u ask me

Posted January 22, 2014 10:08 pm

As for Angulo’s bad performance against Cintron, he might not have trained hard and thought it was an easy fight because Cintron quit twice to Margarito. That’s why it is important to train hard all the time and not take any opponent litely

Posted January 22, 2014 9:56 pm

This should be a really good fight. People writing off Angulo forget that he was winning in the Lara fight prior to the injury, and likewise, was winning against Kirkland prior to stupidly punching himself out.
It’s also a fight where Canelo won’t have any size or weight advantage to speak of.

Posted January 22, 2014 9:54 pm

Angulo has faced real fighter at 154 lb with power. This will be Canelo’s first time facing a real 154 lb fighter with power, Trout had no power. This will be fight of the year.

in general, i think Angulo has become depleted at 154lbs. his legs were a bit more solid and his punches crisper when he was 15-0. lately, he seems to be pushing his punches and dragging his feet. unless Canelo experiences the same weight-drain making 154lbs, he should and NEEDs to confidently prevail.

Angulo is a rough and tough dude who i had high albeit limited hopes for, but his erratic performances v. the likes of Cintron(?!?), Kirkland, and what i saw as a somewhat depleted performance v. Lara has resulted in him being not much more than a rough dude, which is no world beater. anyway, unless Angulo experiences a surprising resurgence, this should and needs to be a confident and masterful performance by Canelo.

Posted January 22, 2014 9:41 pm

canelo is a 23 year old kid son i dont think anyone is “over rating” canelo. canelo has been fireworks in the ring plain and simple. canelo has a huge following plain and simple. canelo is a 23 year old kid fighting ppv’s plain and simple it speaks for itself te tumbo. canelo has not in any way shape or form “peaked” and the kid is entertaing as hell to watch.

Posted January 22, 2014 9:39 pm

fact is angulo is a rough dude and had a very good performance against lara actually. im lookin forward to this and i hope canelo continues his trend of lookin better and better he was on prior to the mayweather bout. canelo vs angulo could get interesting quick. lara had never been dropped. i dont remember canelo ever being dropped

Btw, has anybody located Cotto? he must be truly lost (or washing the crap out of his hot-trunks) to not show up to accept a guaranteed $10 million payday, i.e., What “rivalry”?

Posted January 22, 2014 9:19 pm

te tumbo

DLP, i watched that bout live from the floor seat, which aren’t the best, Btw. a vew rows up above the ropes are my favorites but i wasn’t about to turn down the invite. anyway, Angulo moved like he had cement in his boots and Lara’s lateral movement barely countered it enough to survive two KDs, which a Mayweather or Canelo could’ve avoided but (IMO) Lara’s not on that level. his virtual “Draw” v. Vanes and his thoroughly bedeviled performance v. Molina exposed some distinct limitations that any truly elite fighter should be able to exploit. perhaps not with ease but with certainty.

Posted January 22, 2014 9:17 pm

@ te tumbo . . . You must have not seen the fight between Lara and Angulo

Posted January 22, 2014 7:56 pm

te tumbo

i thought that the Angulo that showed up for Lara was the worst version of Angulo i’ve seen. he displayed the mobility of a ring-post and the versatility of Jean Marie Emebe. it reinforced my impression that Lara is overrated. he barely survived that version of Angulo and i expect Canelo to vastly improve on Lara’s performance. should be — Has To Be — easy work for Canelo. at which point, everyone whose touting Angulo has being a tough matchup for Canelo will declare that Canelo is “overrated”.

Posted January 22, 2014 6:59 pm

Yeah i don’t think this will be an easy fight for Canelo. If the same Angulo shows up that showed up for Lara it may be a long night for Canelo.

Posted January 22, 2014 5:49 pm

I wasn’t taking it as you where being sarcastic. I can normally tell when you are. As opposed to a lot of posters you actually debate are argue with some integrity. I know we don’t agree on a lot of things, especially when it comes to Floyd but you at least not that I can remember actually attack me or insult me. So I didn’t take it like that at all.

Posted January 22, 2014 5:48 pm

Whoever think angulo wil b ease for canelo dont know nothing about boxing …yes el perro its not fast but has a lot of power in both jands and keep coming foward throwing bombs all nite long …if not ask kirkland or lara

Posted January 22, 2014 5:25 pm

“Yes I did. Unfortunately I am not able to go out like I used to. ”

Well, I wasn’t being sarcastic, Peej. It just sounded funny so I thought you were messing around.

IMO, this is a stay-busy matchup for Canelo. in fact, It Better Be. Angulo’s been outboxed by Cintron, outpunched by Kirkland, and outlasted by Lara. all fighters that i would favor Canelo over. not to mention Cotto who was apparently “unavailable” to collect the biggest payday remaining in the twilight of his career.

Yes I did. Unfortunately I am not able to go out like I used to. I am having to save my money and be more responsible as I get older. If I go out I will easily spend more money than what I would spend by purchasing the fight and buying a bottle of whiskey. I have major purchases this year and they have to be saved for.

Yeah I taught Angulo the importance of defense. The fact that Lara was hitting Angulo at will doesn’t count though.

Posted January 22, 2014 12:51 pm

Canelo will get hit with power for the first time,I still think he wins but not as easy as some think.

Posted January 22, 2014 12:39 pm

“I am looking forward to this fight. Hopefully a friend purchases it because I really don’t want to. If nobody does I guess I could go ahead and do it, better than being bored that night anyways”

LOL Peej! Did you really say that? LMAO! ‘Better than being bored that night anyways” LMAO!

Posted January 22, 2014 12:06 pm

I think Angulo is going to teach Alvarez what pain is all about.

Posted January 22, 2014 12:05 pm

What a good match up, Canelo takes breathers and Angulo…………..doesn’t. Can see Canelo eating that hook.

Posted January 22, 2014 11:53 am

Angulo is an excellent test for any fighter, but especially for an untested boxer like Canelo. Canelo needs to take this fight seriously because if Angulo does take the fight seriously and trains hard, Canelo could be looking at his second loss in a row.

Losing patience!

Hard to predict winner? Canelo needs a good chin as will get hit hard but both there to get hit as slow on foot, but like the match up.

Fight Aficionado

Angulo has an odd look nowadays. That getup doesn’t look bad per se, he just looks like a hipster in SF’s Lower Haight, not a boxer. BTW that ring card girl to the right needs to milk my balls all over her titays. Couldn’t help that.
