There’s just no clamor for this fight. We all know how it will turn out. Floyd will gain an early KO — something he hasn’t done in years. Khan has only the advantages of youth and height. Floyd believes in charity … he’s donating $6m to the Amir Khan Retirement Fund on May 3rd. Khan doesn’t deserve the fight and it’s a mismatch because Khan doesn’t even belong in the same ring as Floyd. But, hey, Floyd likes to give to charity. Hey guys do you realise every boxer between 140lbs and 154bs with a 2-2 record in their last four fights has a shot at facing Mayweather? What a joke the Khan-Mayweather fight is. But fact is he made Guerrero go from a 75 puncher per round to a 40 something puncher per round. And if he has you hurt he will try to get you out of there like he tried to do in the 9th or 10th round but Floyd hurt his hand so he couldn’t finish the job. “If they chose against him and he wins they say he fought a safety first fight and it was boring.”
Peej, I said Guerrero had no business being in the ring with Mayweather, that Mayweather would beat him by UD. After the fight I said Floyd fought “safe,” and that’s exactly what he did. Guerrero landed an abysmal 19% of his punches thrown compared to 41% for Mayweather, yet Floyd never tried to close the show with a stoppage. Why? He fought safe. Did just enough to get by and get the win. His potshotting exhibitions have gotten old.Posted January 21, 2014 5:03 pm

Khan has accomplished at least as much as Canelo against better opposition. Khan has speed & a good, long jab. Khan has a slight edge in power over Jr who can’t KO any welter that isn’t looking at the ref. But the intelligence department is a monumental mismatch. Khan can’t adjust or adapt, hasn’t met a left hook he won’t eat & on top of that he has been concussed on multiple occasions. Khan might win a few early rounds before he gets befuddled the rest of the fight en route to a lopsided decision. This might be a fight where Jr eventually gets a non-controversial stoppage. This isn’t a horrible match up but a mismatch none the less.Posted January 21, 2014 4:53 pm
What is your definition of “poor pay-per-view numbers.” I agree, this will probably rank as one of the lower grossing fights for Floyd. Will it do worse than the Guererro fight? I’m not so sure. If by poor you mean 700,00 -800,000 PPV buys (which is the estimate). Then yes that is poor numbers for Floyds standards. But lets not kid ourselves. Nobody else, not Manny, not Canelo, NOBODY, else in the entire sport of boxing can get those numbers right now. 700,000 – 800,000 PPV buys is poor for Floyds standards, but would be the Holy Grail for anybody else. Hell, Canelo PPV number are estimated at 250,000 buys for his upcoming fight. So if Floyd has poor pay per view numbers, than what does Canelo have?Posted January 21, 2014 4:48 pm

Floyd will never be mentioned under the all time greats such as Lenard,Duran, haggler,Ali etc simpile reason he fights for money over legacy. But as it stands I’m a boxing fan and will relectantaly pay the £15 ppv, for these reason Floyd even though a cherry picker is the best fighter of this generation and will only get to see him fight live maybe 3 more times, even PAC man would be a sparring partner for Floyd, khan is exciting to watch and is very vunrable so fight will be good as khan unlike most Floyd opoments is willing to take a risk and main event is so one sided that the under card fights should be good and biggest reason I am a mug(hoping gor the smallest of chances for the upset)Posted January 21, 2014 1:56 pm

Its obvious he is doing it for the money. Problem is the one true fighter that really deserves it is under Top Rank and is about to be the opponent for Pac, and that is Tim Bradley. The other fighter that really deserves it is Maidana who is about to have rematch with Broner. This crap about being in a fight of the year type fight means nothing. All it means is 2 fighters went to war. That is it.Posted January 21, 2014 1:39 pm
Cannot for the life in me understand why a future hall of fame boxer and perceived P4P fighter chose to fight someone like Khan. The comparisons between Floyd and Khan, in terms of their accomplishements and skills, are like night and day. Khan has never been esteemed by anyone in the boxing realm as the fighter to beat or an all time great, in fact, he’s never held a title for very long and has lost to fighters he should have beaten such as Prescott, who today is on no one’s radar. Khan is no future hall of fame inductee, was never classified as fighter of the year or even had a fight of the year caliber fight. Further, he will never hold the distinction of fighter of the decade. None of these points are pluses so it’s baffling as to why a fighter of Floyd’s resolve would engage a fighter with Khan’s defective record. Floyd is obviously not doing this for the fans, the one’s who have made him, his family and hangers on rich. If he had the least minute amount of regard and respect for fans and boxing, he would give them better, way better than this. Way to go Floyd. This is how you pay fans back after making you rich. You’re a class act.Posted January 21, 2014 1:16 pm

He won’t fight manny, he won’t fight GGG he won’t fight marteniz and he’s beaten alverez and Marquez! Bradley is good but boring and porter and Thurman are not well known enough and Garcia is staying at light welter and it’s too late for maidina????? So stop your moaning like it or not this fight is happening. This will sell well in the uk and Floyd has a big fan base. But overall this is just a fight to keep Floyd’s bank tool ticking over ready for a slightly bigger test in September. And FYI Floyd is not called “money ” for nothing. Enough saidPosted January 21, 2014 11:29 am
This fight is a bad fight. As far as the number being underwhelming. We are just gonna have to wait and see. If he sold a mil vs Guerrero I think he would be able to do a mil against Khan. Is this a fight I want to see, nope. But at them moment its the fight we got.Posted January 21, 2014 11:26 am
I’m a Mayweather fan, but this fight is about as bad as Pacquiao vs Rios.Posted January 21, 2014 11:18 am
Khan wasn’t quick enough, or smart enough, to avoid being KO’d by Prescott and Garcia. He was hurt by Willie Limond for god’s sakes, hung on desparately against Maidana and badly shook up by Diaz. Floyd isn’t the most aggressive boxer, but he will want to stop Khan some stage of the fight. He’ll do it in the later stages, I reckon. Otherwise, a clear decision for FMJ.Posted January 21, 2014 11:11 am
Konji, incorrect twice. Showtime call the shots. Don’t let Floyds image dupe you. If the numbers don’t look good ShowTime aren’t going to shlt on their shareholders just to please Floyd. You think Khan is popular in the UK? He is widely disliked. His fans are not the Hatton soccer fans. He only pulls in a few taxi drivers and kabab shop workers. He is similar in popularity to British as Guerrero is to Mexican fans, i.e not very. PPV will tank BADLY regardless. Pakistans average wage is $3 per day, so his 110m fans there are no use to Showtime. Showtime may force him to fight his great fear, Pac if this tanks.Posted January 21, 2014 11:10 am

The PPV numbers won’t matter to Mayweather. He’s simply fulfilling his contract with Showtime. There is no speciifications regarding who he fights. The contract calls for six fights and that’s what he’s doing. Also, Mayweather doesn’t need the money and doesn’t care what the PPV numbers may be. He negotiates his share of the cash at the bargaining table and what happens afterwards means nothing. If Mayweather does select Khan, that fight should take place in the U.K. where it will be huge.Posted January 21, 2014 10:50 am

What if Floyd picks up an in-fight injury – a torn rotator cuff or something similarly incapacitating? If Khan is chosen it won’t be for PPV sales in the US or for British fans – it will be Floyd trying to cash in on the Asian market (Manny made money fighting in Asia & didn’t have to pay US taxes, PPV did badly but Manny’s net profit was high). PPV is how US fans rate boxing popularity, it’s insular hyperbole by the US media. What the promoters care about is income, including global sales.Posted January 21, 2014 4:29 am

Tark look at Mannys numbers, Bradley fight was the biggest it did 875,00 less but than 1 million ppv. Rios vs. Manny did less than 475,000 ppvs his sales have dropped to less thN half. Canelo is a star thats why Floyd fought him and thats why it sold over 3 million ppv. Kahn is huge in the UK this fight will sell out vegas, Hotels casinos ect. Even though A mere con posses no treat, The fact is Floyd can do all of this without the Arum Factor headache. There is bad blood and he made up his mind never to work with Arum again, If Floyd is already raking in 100-150 million a fight without Manny or Arum. What sense does it make to fight him? he already told Manny to leave Arum, but he never will, Oscar left Arum fought Floyd Cotto left Arum fought Floyd. Manny needs to heed. Only way a fight with Manny makes sense is if Floyds market had decreased and he needed a big fight and Manny was doing big numbers I can see the fight making sense, Right now fighting Floyd only benefits Manny, considering Floyd is already making a killing without him…They blew it back in 09 and they know it, now the regret it but instead of humbling themselves like these other fighters, What does Arum do try to discredit Floyd every chance he gets Floyd is scared I will build a stadium Manny will fight for charity they will say anything. But the last time we checked Floyd is not hurting for opponents, and dosent have to beg anyone to fight him. get over it…, I predicted Floyd-Canelo would break ALL revenue records 18 months before the fight happened… May-Pac will break the Floyd-Canelo revenue record if it happens.
However … Floyd vs Khan might be a disaster…
It’s kind of touchy because people expected Floyd-Canelo to be spectacular… Canelo was 42-0-1, but it was a dead dog anyway… The fight ended with a whimper and no action—and then you had a judge giving Canelo 6 rounds.. So now you take Khan who was KO’d by Garcia early — and KO’d by somebody nobody ever heard of early, and was beaten up by Lamont “Numbnuts” Peterson… They might not be able to sell that fight and it may do worse than Pacquiao-Rios … The public is in no mood for BS matchups at the present time. We just had Pascal vs Bute and LB put on a Canelo performance doing zip.Posted January 21, 2014 2:19 am
Why are boxing Fans always Complaining , about any fight that gets made ..
Eastsideboxing turned into a crap sirePosted January 21, 2014 2:00 am
Not when you compare them to Pacquiao-Rios.Posted January 21, 2014 1:58 am
“Mayweather-Khan PPV numbers likely to be underwhelming” You think!!!Posted January 21, 2014 1:30 am

CBS should fire Espinoza if this fight go thru.Posted January 21, 2014 1:00 am
Lightsout… by that reasoning Pac would destroy Martinez as Martinez lost to Margacheato and Margacheato got his handed to him by Pac.Posted January 21, 2014 12:44 am

If styles make fights, then this fights going to be a stinker. Floyd already fights one punch at a time and Kahn knows he’d get ko’d if he throws more than one. no disrespect but it’s going to be amateur boxing, neither is going to take risks.Posted January 21, 2014 12:37 am
Mama:Floyd!..where are you??Posted January 21, 2014 12:32 am
PTS- one and only reason Mayweather vs Manny hasn’t happen Bob Arum/ Top Stink.
Mayweather vs Sergio would be a way better fight. He would challenge mayweather ….also Mayweather could pick up another belt in a different division. Mayweather whips Pacman in the same fashion of Mayweather vs Marquez. Manny can’t handle the best counter puncher in the game.Posted January 21, 2014 12:16 am
Tark- Mayweather vs Canelo….Canelo weight 165 lbs on fight night. Far from being drained periodPosted January 21, 2014 12:10 am

this is a safe fight for floydie cherry picking 4.0, just to say he won. this is a useless pointless fight. is floydie afraid of maidana??Posted January 20, 2014 11:43 pm
This fight can’t be more entertaining the a Pac/Floyd fight. Buy kahn/floyd at your own peril.Posted January 20, 2014 11:40 pm
200M??????????? Post your sources! Try under 100….way under it..Posted January 20, 2014 11:39 pm
get over it
Tark people are tired of getting screwed speak for yourself the canelo fight sold out in the first week. it had over 3 million ppvs, Floyd walked away with over 200 million for one fight, So If they are tired we cant tell, I guess you think a undefeated guy is cherry picking? Canelo was undefeated and still is a beast, I guess you also think Manny is a bigger risk than Canelo? If thats the case why dont Manny fight Canelo? I mean after all he had Floyd did big numbers and made a ton of money? And we all know Manny needs the money. Manny said 40 million wasnt enough money remember? Kahn will do whatever to make this fight Happen besides its the biggest pay day of his life Manny sould have did the same thing, I bet he is kicking himself in the ass now lol, The Uk will sell vegas out the city will be on fire fight night hotels casino will be crazy. Granted not because Kahn is a risk but because the UK are fools for they fighters, Actually Floyd would be stupid not to take this fight Kahn is easy work. Its going to be mega Manny where you at lol?Posted January 20, 2014 11:31 pm
Mayweather vs Khan will double the PPV numbers that Pacquaio vs Rios did. I am a Pacquaio fan who can be honest about it. In regards to competitiveness, this fight will be better then Mayweather vs Canelo or Guerrero, for sure.
People are tired of getting screwed… They paid up big time to see a highly hyped 23-year-old, weight drained Canelo Alvarez DO NOTHING but stand there for 12 rounds — just waiting to collect his 11 million dollars so he can secure his retirement at the youthful age of 23..
Khan also wants early retirement money… He would have gone through with the Devon Alexander fight — taking a terrific beating for about a million dollars — but knows he can make 5 times as much for taking no worse a beating from Floyd.Posted January 20, 2014 11:12 pm
This is goin to b big n will do well PPV buys if not in America …definitely goin t do wel in England for sure especially if the promoting is done both side of the atlantic …as soon as FMM lands in England to promote the fight big sporting star like him ..BOOM!! And u aint getting no weak dollar here .. straight £Stirling. US$’s & £’s makes good business. So theres loads of money in this fight. And styles make fights AK brings smthing different to the table, speed angles n fights on da outside …not your usual come forward mexican brawler trying to get on the inside swing big hooks which FMM is so used to fighting n picks them off easily..so AK is bringing a different style 1we’r not used to seeing fmm fight often …its going to be interesting to see how FMM deals with AK style. Hope the fight gets made. I for1will be watchingPosted January 20, 2014 11:09 pm
Anybody who watches Khan’s last 2 fights — and knows Khan ducked out on the Devon Alexander fight — a title shot — knows Floyd-Khan is a real con job of a fight… The fight stinks.
Lightweight Julio Diaz beat the crap out of Khan and floored him hard… Diaz wins that fight anywhere but England… This fight is a travesty waiting to happen… It’s a stinko fight.. It’s Muhammad Ali vs Leon Spinks… Just looking for the weakest possible opponent you can put in front of Floyd and still make a PPV out of it.Posted January 20, 2014 11:02 pm

I don’t know that I’d watch the Mayweather/Khan fight for free. It’s a foregone conclusion, so why bother to waste my time watching it? Floyd may as well be fighting Walter Brennan’s Rio Bravo character, Stumpy, as to fight Khan.Posted January 20, 2014 10:40 pm
Mayweather vs Manny(free agent) in early 2015. Mayweather already stated years ago Bob Arum won’t make a penny off him period. Wheres that outdoor stadium at Top Stink.? Mayweather still P4P king….Manny 1-2 in his last 3 only beating a Bum Rios- got KTFO by JMMPosted January 20, 2014 10:32 pm
