Tom Cribb is correct. Anyone calling Fury a fraud needs to name another contender who’s beaten better comp. They can’t, since there is nobody.

Tom Cribb

@Jamres – you do talk crap – Fury’ is one of the least fraudulent heavys out there. Untill he was messed around by Haye, he was fighting regularly; He’s beaten Chisora, Johnson, Cunningham, all better fighters than anyone Wilder or Jennings has beat. For a guy of 25, hes achieved a hell of a lot already, there are older and more experienced heavies whove done way less!

the only joke bigger than the wbc is that big muppet fury.

Posted January 10, 2014 10:51 am

This is the type of response that would be welcomed by the Fury camp. They can spin the reason that Fury is not fighting for the WBC title is because of politics rather than a more logical reason in that Fury can not defeat Arreola or Stiverne. Why would he want to fight legitimate heavyweights when he already has a limey audience creampie’n when Luke “Tyson” Fury KO’s an out-of-primed cruiserweight. Fury’s all hype, that is why he doesn’t go by his name Luke but prefers name dropping by adding the real Tyson’s legacy to this bloody joke.

WBC needs investigating, they’re getting beyond a joke ! They don’t take to kindly to gypsy blood me thinks…

Posted January 9, 2014 5:57 pm

Why should it matter that Fury vs Cunningham was an IBF eliminator? Cunningham was world class and Fury beat him. The WBC is acting as if that fight just didn’t happen – it’s typical sanctioning body lunacy.

Even more idiotic of course, is that guys are jockying hard to vie for the WBC title which means absolutely ZERO given that Wlad is still fighting.

I can see it now, if Wilder or Arreola wins the vacant WBC belt, they will be on a show like Good Morning America the next day that will gush praise all over them & trumpet their accomplishment that they are the first US World Heavyweight champ in so many years blah blah blah… phony paper titles…it is all a joke.

“WBC will proceed with imposing disciplinary sanctions against him, including potential suspension, fine, and withdrawal from the WBC ratings.” – You can bet the WBCriminals have already banned Fury from their rankings. Johnson and Cunningham are “inferior” opponents because the IBF ranks them higher than the demented WBC. The WBC should be investigated as an ongoing criminal enterprise like the mafia and Jose Suliwoman should be arrested.

yourdad is correct. Cunningham KNOWS how to punch, and can land some BOMBS! Watch SS vs Huck! SS threw overhand power shots like a fish swims! Beautiful in form, and packing plenty of power!

Anonymous – I said that with a smile : ) , but I tend to get upset, when BIG fatcat entities try to shut freedom of speech down when some little guy is just speaking the TRUTH! Maybe you need to educate yourself in the ways of FREEDOM! Or are you one of those PATHETIC “ROYAL” boot lickers from england? “God save the queen”. LMFAO! No offence to my buddys across the big pond that have their head screwed on right.

I also think its hilarious that people think Cunningham knocking down a guy with his hands down as some kind of accomplishment. He got back up kids and when he put cunningham down, cunningham didn’t get back up.

Can’t blame Fury for David Haye messing him about for 12 months, I’m sure Fury is as mad as anyone, especially on missing out n a big payday

WBC doesn’t follow their own rules. So who really cares about them. Wlad is the champ anyways, that is all he needs to worry about if that is what he wants to be.

Arreola number 2 in the WBC rankings for beating Seth Mitchell and Wilder number 3? Laughable.

Posted January 9, 2014 10:07 am

PSY and AssyrianGod, I also don’t agree with everything the WBC does, but you guys need to read the WBC’s rules and regulations regarding rankings and championship fights. When a sanctioning body makes a public statements in regards to a certain matter as the WBC has, you can bet they have ground to stand on. And you can also bet they will pursue the matter further if Fury doesn’t comply with their request for an apology and retraction of his comments against it. Boxers shouldn’t bite the hands that feed them.

Posted January 9, 2014 9:15 am

Gross hypocrisy
A] Stiverne has been inactive for as long as Fury, and his only major win was over Arreola, yet he is rated 1?
B] Wilder is rated above Fury, yet his level of opposition includes not a single top 50 fighter?
C] Arreola is nominated for a title fight despite already losing to Stiverne, and losing to Vitali and Adamek. His only win was over Seth Mitchell who is not a top contender.?
D] Vitali has been inactive for very long periods over the last few years, yet was not stripped or demoted for inactivity?

The WBC are hypocritical, corrupt criminals!

^this. Great post AG

Posted January 9, 2014 8:49 am

Stiervne has been number one mandatory for over 2,5 years and has fought 2 final elimination fights so he should be excused. Fury should fight Wilder and stop all these media stunts which are meant to get him publicity.

Posted January 9, 2014 8:12 am

so if Fury is ranked no.8 due to poor level of opposition, then how on earth is the bambi legged
Wilder, the only man to not fight anyone ranked higher than 50, rated above him?

No wonder Fury (and many others) thinks the WBC are bent; as the saying goes, no smoke without fire…

Posted January 9, 2014 8:05 am

fury and chisora are the only fighter’s from the UK that will step up and actully fight the rest (haye cleverly murray) are all dodging bums

A bit rich coming from the WBC really considering they left Vitali be inactive for such a long time and they never dethroned him and Wilder is ranked higher than Fury which makes no sence at all considering the garbage he has fought so IMO Fury has a valid complaint here

WBC demands a payoff from Fury after Fury complains about WBC payoffs.

The WBC is transparently corrupt. Handing JCC Jr a title, ranking Khan no 2 at a weight he’d never fought at. Why does the WBC even pretend any more?

“Arreola would get smashed up by Fury” pft?! after watching this lumbering goon be decked by a cruiserweight, i would sincerely love to see him try. i would even favor Seth Mitchell over Fury. the man has gaping holes in his defense equal to the gaping hole he talks out of. Fury is barely tested and has proven nothing. of course, he can count on gullible fanboys to enable his posturing and grasping for bigger paydays NOT serious competition.

“[Arreola] is only ranked so high because he is a fighter with Mexican heritage”. Arreola is ranked highly because every ranking following the Klitchkos is virtually interchangeable. as IF Fury not being ranked higher is some sort of travesty(?!). beyond the Klitschkos, #20 could defeat #10 can defeat #1 on any given fight-night. haggling over the heavyweight rankings these days is meaningless. it’s like haggling over what’s better: English or Filipino food? who cares?!? they both suck donkey. Btw, why is the WBC validating Fury’s trash-talk with a formal response? who cares!? he’s just blowing off steam and NObody is shocked by insinuations that the WBC (or any other sanctioning body) operates in a shady and arbitrary fashion. besides, no true fight-fan considers titles to be the final measure of a fighter’s greatness. it’s quality competition and body of work. Floyd could not hold a single title and it wouldn’t make a damn difference to his #1 P4P ranking among experienced fight-fans.

Posted January 8, 2014 9:26 pm

The Greatest

Sorry, how can fury be accused of inactivity when the supposed number one, Stiverne had his last fight in the same month as him?! After winning the so called silver title, stiverne now gets to fight the guy he just beat for what? The gold title? Surely the WBC could cut fury some slack and give him a bronze title shot, or failing that, a tin title shot??

Posted January 8, 2014 9:22 pm

Swedish Boxing Fan

Well Tyson Fury needs to learn some matter and he had to learn it the hader way. I belive this can be managed by Fury and representatives with an good apology in media that he said things un-proffesional and unmature for a top rated athlete.

That is of course if he realy meens it and Fury is VERY GOOD at trashtalking and that he now was punished by himself for saying one and two things to much. Just to take that sour apple bite and accept it.

Like I said before – In a traditional way, a fighter has to defeat top opponents in order to climb the ranks and Tyson Fury did that BUT being inactive for 8 months with-out fighting any opponent + going public on the internet with retirement rumors = Dropping in ranks. Fight some good opponent and you will bounce back there, mabey just for m oment not with the WBC title.

Posted January 8, 2014 8:59 pm

Yet this WBC has Chris Arreola as one of the top two contenders, when everyone knows he does not deserve to be ranked so high, and is only ranked so high because he is a fighter with Mexican heritage. Fury should realize though, that the WBC for a heavyweight title fight is a joke at this time. The real world champ is named Wladamir.

Posted January 8, 2014 8:58 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. LionKing)

Fury has been inactive because Haye scheduled two different fights with him, then ducked out of both and retired. It’s not hard to figure out, so what’s Sulaiman’s and the WBC’s major malfunction???

Posted January 8, 2014 8:38 pm

A very, very defensive press release. Fury saying “someone’s paying a lot of money to somebody” got them all butt-hurt because it hits a little too close to home. Any reputable organization would be able to laugh it off–but they can’t, because everyone knows the alphabets are a corrupt joke.

Interesting that they think they can punish Fury with “suspension, fine, and withdrawal from the WBC ratings.” If they remove him from the ratings how are they going to suspend him or give him a fine?

Posted January 8, 2014 8:30 pm

Interesting points anonymous. Yeah, the WBC picks and chooses who gets and doesnt get the title shots.
It’s obvious a certain few American promoters are getting their fighters ranked highly in the WBC whereas it used to be the WBA who got their kickbacks…..
I guess each alphabet org is full of shiit, but at least the others aint trying to spin it.

IMO, the IBF is the only org which routinely has elimination tournaments and gets their mandatories their title shots.

Posted January 8, 2014 8:22 pm

some dude

Posted January 8, 2014 8:14 pm

Well this certainly sets an interesting precedent. If 10 months of inactivity means that a fighter has to lose even top 5 status with the WBC then if a champion at, say 147lb, was to not only make no defences for over a year but to then return to the ring at 154lb fighting for the belt of another sanctioning body he would surely have to be stripped of the WBC belt right? right?

Posted January 8, 2014 8:13 pm

i dont care if you like fury or not, he got screwed

Posted January 8, 2014 8:04 pm

Absolute joke wbc’ come on big man get back in ring an get some wins an challenge vlad

Posted January 8, 2014 8:04 pm

This WBC decision may not be a bad thing for Fury. He’s got to understand that he’ll continue to lose his status and ranking until he gets back in the ring and starts fighting again. He’s been inactive too long. Giddyap Tyson!

Posted January 8, 2014 7:59 pm

sweet science

I agree with the WBC on this…. if any other athlete from another sport would have made similar comments about their league or organization, the same disaplinary actions would have taken place

Posted January 8, 2014 7:57 pm

What a bunch of hypocrites. The WBC talks all high and mighty and then basically says that it may drop Mr. Fury from the ratings because they didn’t like what he said. The WBC is a joke and every boxing fan knows that.
