No need for Marqeuz to fight Pac again. He already punctuated what he thought should of been in the past 3 fights. I thought Pac won the first 2 but last the last 2. Not to mention never did Pac give Marquez an immediate rematch so Marquez is not required to give Pac an immediate rematch.

Lmao!!! PAC scares you like no one don’t he? You don’t want PAC vs mayweather no PAC vs Marquez because you know PAC will beat Marquez and then there will be a demand for a PAC vs mayweather your nightmare matchup … And then you have the nerve to say PAC avoided those fights when you pray for PAC vs mayweather not to happen

GREAT fighters like Jones, Oscar, Ali, Foreman, Frazier and others have been KNOCKED out and no one needed Congressional inquiry to accept the results… That punch was perfectly placed it might have knocked out Bernard Hopkins for all we know…Antonio Margarito has a chin the likes of which we will probably not see again and Shane Mosley stopped him at the age of 37…. This is boxing ANYTHING can happen the said the same about Manny when he was beating up Oscar and Cotto and I did not dive into that nonsense…

Posted October 17, 2013 3:13 pm

REM, get over it Pacquiao has been STOPPED by FAR lessor boxers than Marquez and JMM had long shown he was a thorn in Mannys side all this PED convo is VERY childish and frankly shows little real regard for the sport… The FACTS stand that Manny Pacquiao was knocked CLEAN out by a CLEAN Juan Manuel Marquez…. Manny Pacquiao has LONG been the subject of PED rumors and I NEVER bought into them… He was VERY anti-test for a long time until he got his head handed to him by JMM now he sees the value of enhanced testing… I presume BOTH boxers to be clean and the results are going to stand till HELL freezes over… Grow Up

Posted October 17, 2013 3:10 pm

The Real and True Boxing Fan

Wow, are Pacquiao fans still crying over the KO loss?

They are so mad that they are now defending Bradley. Saying Bradley schooled Marquez although it was a close fight with a 15 punch landed difference.

Get over it, Pacquiao got knocked out!

Nothing that you say or write will change that. The picture of Pacquiao being knocked, face first will FOREVER be considered one of the best knockouts ever!!!

SO all you Pac fans can continue to insult Marquez, his fans and Mexicans, but no matter what, Pacquiao will be remembered being laid face down and unconscious!!

Posted October 17, 2013 2:43 pm

Pac agreed to testing with Floyd outside of that there was no need for him to test his opponents until now that he was victimized by the ped masking guru

Posted October 17, 2013 1:15 pm

Pac had been rocked in every fight against Marquez. There are only so many punches someone can take before they finally get KOd. And it finally happened to Pac because he has no defense. And him being KOd before should show that he can be KOd. And Marquez was clean, until he comes up dirty, he is clean. He took the random test that was required. Something Pac would never agree too so that should tell you something right there.

Posted October 17, 2013 12:53 pm

Pac knew Marquez power very well and was fighting accordingly but that wasn’t Marquez he was fighting it was Balco. Bradley was well prepared for Balco that’s what happened.

Posted October 17, 2013 12:41 pm

JMM is gonna fight too long, he’s a willful, stubborn man who is not gonna accept the signs it’s over… As long as Nacho and Arum tell him he’s only lost ONE bout he’s going to end up in the ring with Pacquiao because of the money… Fighting a winnable bout at 140 then stepping off would be acceptable but I doubt that happens..

Posted October 17, 2013 11:43 am

The Best!

I said t the whole time……Even though Marquez K.O’d Manny he still looked only about 70% of his old self. One has to remember both Manny and Marquez are old and almost washed up fighters by now due to all the wars they’ve been in. I said it before and Ill say it again , Marquez should of and needs to hang up his gloves. He should take an easy fight and call it quits before he gets brutalized by a young buck.

Posted October 17, 2013 11:28 am

These aging boxers should learn to live within their means. There is no reason for a fighter with as many wars as Marquez to continue taking head shots.

Posted October 17, 2013 10:58 am

That wasn’t a lucky punch that laid Pacquiao out like a fallen tree. It was a well-timed, perfectly delivered punch that was aided by a combination of Pacquiao’s foolish hastiness and weak defensive skills. Pacquiao himself admitted he was hasty.

Even though Juan was getting beat up he had the place and sense of mind to wait for the opportunity to land that perfect punch. He knew Pacquiao would make the same mistake that he did earlier in the fight when Marquez knocked him down the first time. And, Pac had left himself open for the same punch a number of times after the knockdown.

But only a warrior of Marquez’s mettle could have landed a punch like that. Could you imagine this man with a sword, a shield, and a chariot?

Posted October 17, 2013 10:37 am

If anything Bradley beating Marquez and showing intelligence in the process showed the flaws in PAC Mans game… Bradley did NOT take take 2 trips to the canvas like Pacquiao did last fight the last KD the literal KO of the YEAR!! Bradley had 12 rounds to figure out what Manny FAILED to figure out in 41 rounds, JMM is a counterpuncher of elite level and this attacks must be varied and well timed…PAC Man’s reversion to Caveman cost him millions of Brain Cells with one shot!!! Besides this poster “ES” is REALLY sad treating Bradley like the Pope as if he can wash away Pacquiaos sins/loss to Marquez…. Bradley beat an even older more shopworn version of the JMM that turned Mannys lights out… PAC Mans record is not gonna be expunged because Bradley fought a smart fight… That’s patently ridiculous..

Posted October 17, 2013 10:32 am

The Bomb that Marquez landed on Pacquiao was anything BUT “LUCKY” it was very “UNLUCKY” for Pacquiao!!! Marquez is one of the best counterpunchers of this generation and he had done a full 41 rounds with Pacquiao based largely on that skill and his toughness..When Mannys over aggression got the better of him and he thought for perhaps the 15th time in their series he had Marquez ripe for the kill he came storming in as JMM planted, licked his chops and buried that right hand in his cranium.. This was not some wild hook or blow thrown eyes closed by a school boy, it was an overhand right straight down the pike that only NADA with laser sighting could have targeted better… There are no spins or explanations to mitigate the complete ownership of Pacquiaos soul that Marquez displayed in that moment… Fact is that Marquez took Mannys best for 4 bouts and would not stay down, Pacquiao took Marquez best for a few milliseconds and took a nap worthy of a newborn after beast feeding….

Posted October 17, 2013 10:22 am

It’s a sad state of affairs for you boys knowing there are no formidable opponents fighting out of mexico. Pues, coman mierda.

Posted October 17, 2013 9:39 am

Timothy Bradley’s well deserved victory over JMM on Saturday did something to certifiably erase whatever value there may have been in Marquez’s knock-out win over Manny Pacquiao. What did Bradley’s successful defense do to diminish JMM’s win over Pacquiao? Simple… Bradley’s victory certified that Marquez’s knock-out punch of the ‘Pacman’ (round 6 of their Dec 8, 2012 encounter) was nothing more than what many of us have been saying all along… A LUCKY PUNCH!…..

Posted October 17, 2013 9:23 am

…… If we all now know that Bradley can seriously out box Marquez (as we witnessed to be true on Saturday), and most of us agree Pacquiao can and has seriously out boxed Bradley (controversy aside), then we should all now be in agreement that the punch dealt by Marquez, in a fight he was never dominating in was nothing more or less than a lucky punch!!
This is a hard pill for many mexifanboys to swallow but, bottom’s up!

As what SREDMOND says: “He will always have the memory of blasting Pacquiao as his PEAK Moment NOT his peak as an athlete which reflects badly on Pacquiao…” Most people always forget to consider (though most of them hates Manny’s guts like te tumbo) that during those first 3 fights way back when Marquez was in his younger years, he could not even knock Manny down even once!!! Now during his last fight with Manny and he’s already 40 yrs old then why he hired a well known undetectable PED supplier as a trainer? As you grow older normally our body degrades but instead he grown to be the biggest he has ever been in a short period of time and acquired some additional strength that he has not shown before. This something tells me that a simple math can not simplify otherwise…

“Didn’t Jmm fight Pac after Pac supposedly lost against Bradley?”, which is only valid IF you respect the scorecard decision. “Floyd too fought Judah after Judah lost to Baldormir of all people . . .” because that was the bout everyone wanted to see before Judah lost to Baldomir who claimed the titles that “Money” wanted. Floyd’s decision to still pursue what many still considered to be a dangerous and formidable Judah only reinforces his own ring-integrity. E(at)S(hit), it’s called “context”. learn it to avoid posting such imbecilic, out-of-context, and irrelevant Crap . . . Viva Marquez!

i stand by my irrefutable scorecard of rounds 1, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 12 in favor of Marquez. Bradley was fading and clinching in the final two rounds while Marquez was going for the KO. if i recall winning the last four rounds of a fight pursuing a fading champion, i might also believe i was “robbed”, which was an ongoing travesty that unfolded in each and every one of Marquez’s bouts v. Pacquiao* except for IV, which he won in decisive and unequivocal fashion. although, even so there are still some numbskulls who want to believe it was “luck” or “PEDs” or something other than the obvious, e.g., superior preparation and ring-intelligence. nonetheless, Bradley v. Marquez was not a “robbery”. it was a close and competitive fight with a justifiable boxing and intelligence edge going to Bradley depending on a scorer’s preference. otherwise, Marquez was the aggressor and landed the most telling blows. a road win on the scorecards was never realistic but having to prevail in every bout by devastating KO v. naturally-bigger opponents is attempted scorecard robbery going into a bout.

Posted October 16, 2013 4:18 pm

In all his losses he had a legitimate beef and of course with his competitive nature he should feel robbed. It took me a while to become a fan of this great champion but now his skill and determination and exciting style make him one of my favorites!!

Posted October 16, 2013 4:11 pm

ES, I think Bradley lost to Pacquiao like everyone else but his record says otherwise… That said the larger point was that JMM does not have to be ashamed of a competitive loss to Bradley… I don’t respect his poor sportsmanship on this occasion as it has become an ongoing postfight theme “I was robbed”

The incessant complaining on Juan Manuel Marquez’s part has worn thin. He apparently thinks every close fight is really not a close fight; he seems to think that he is an automatic winner in every fight. Maybe it’s Hall of Famer Nacho Beristain’s fault for telling him he is ahead in fights in which he clearly is not. As a poster recently said, “If he’s upset at anyone it should be himself for not doing more. And speaking of Nacho, he noted in non-hombre style after the fight that Bradley ‘is the only undefeated champion with two losses.”

Posted October 16, 2013 3:35 pm

Kid Blast

This was not one of the early Pacquiao fights where the Marquez camp whined endlessly about the decision as though they were scandalous and rigged even though the fights were as close as close could be; this time it was much more decisive. Nothing occurred that was quirky or edgy. There were no bizarre moments of high drama or suspense except when Michael Buffer announced Glen Feldman’s scorecard. Getting knocked backwards by Bradley’s last punch last night helped, but the deal was sealed before that punctuation. In short, no way did a suddenly old looking Marquez win against a much younger and smart fighting Tim Bradley.

Bradley warrants praise for his effort like Pacquiao and Provodnikov gave, and like Canelo did after his losing effort against Mayweather; stomping out of the ring without an interview and incessant complaining are not good for one’s legacy even if you are a certain future Hall of Famer and still a legend most boxing fans are grateful is still around.

Alexander, Khan and Broner would be terrible matchups for Marquez who is 5″6 1/2… Khans 5″10, fast and he can move on his feet when not being reckless and has a long jab, Alexander is too damn strong for the old man and Broner is simply a peak fighter with fast hands and very good two handed power…I seriously doubt the Marquez story gets better if he keeps boxing into his 40’s he looked even more flat footed than usual against Bradley and needed someone to stand in front of him…

Posted October 16, 2013 9:17 am

It’s ridiculous to think that Marquez has that many fights in him… He was considering retirement after the 3rd bout with PAC and the 4th… He is basically 1-3 at this weight and he’s pushing 41 why would you want to see a Great fighter fight on too long? JMM should take 1 bout and then hang them up with some class while people still remember his best night in the ring…A lot of people forgot Roy Jones at 193 pounds dancing circles around Ruiz at HW instead his getting stopped 4x since that moment and losses to Calzaghe as a way past prime fighter are the most recent memories of him…Bradley’s a young, prime undefeated fighter no shame in Marquez losing to him in competitive fashion, but if JMM hangs around he will get blasted just like they all do…

Posted October 16, 2013 9:12 am

Martin “El Bruchador” Honorio

Not yet, i agree with the writer. I want to see him fight the other welterweight champions, and contenders, like, i want to see him in the ring with Broner, Khan, Garcia, Alexander, Mattyhysee, Maidana, Alvarado, Provodnikov, maybe that new kid kell brook. All these fights are winnable for Marquez. I think Marquez made a mistake underestimating Bradley (1)seeing what Pac did to him and (2) he assume that Bradley would fight like he did against Provo. And dont forget the Cinco de Mayo showdown with the Pacman. I think Marquez can and able to kick-ass all of them.

Posted October 16, 2013 8:45 am

Adrian, do you really think that Pacquiao facing a soon to be 41 year old Marquez is gonna atone for what happened to him?? If you were comfortable with Pacs prior close wins you would already have moved on…. BUT there is no moving on after a crushing KO like that, JMM booking a clear points loss at his age is gonna dim his star, that’s why people are calling for his retirement..God Forbid if they fought again and it was close, or PAC booked a loss to a 41 year old JMM…

Posted October 16, 2013 8:25 am

Adrian, Marquez IS OLD in boxing and Manny Pacquiaos reputation was not on my mind… If he wants to fight JMM off a loss that’s his choice the money might still be there…I know you are VERY BITTER than a then 39 year old Marquez stripped Mannys aura and put his future in jeopardy but he did it!!!! I’m not sure when JMM turns 41, but fact is how many bouts could a former 126 pounder have left in him? We KNOW he cannot accept losing and his whining has even turned me off…. He will always have the memory of blasting Pacquiao as his PEAK Moment NOT his peak as an athlete which reflects badly on Pacquiao…

Yeah for sredmond Marquez was at his “peak ” and fast when he ko PAC but now if he fights again PAC and lose for sredmond he will be to old and PAC’s win will not count .

“Marquez looked precise” this writer is nuts JMM was a step behind on delivery, he simply could not catch Bradley consistently enough with his trademark counters and he was missing… I am a huge Marquez and I can understand him not wanting to end on a loss but he’s 40 and is INCAPABLE of accepting the short end of the stick, there are only so many times fans are gonna listen to his vitriol after being deemed the loser and I hit that point with Bradley….His personal attacks and pretending he was CLEARLY dominant make him look very small and bitter…JMM should take a winnable bout, and retire with some grace, I see Arum setting him up for PAC 5 by discussing how. JMM could have won elsewhere….He peaked stopping Manny but like most he’s gonna fight on too long

No I won’t concede, your post is like always.a deluded piece of utter nonsense……Even if Bradley had knocked Marq out you yourself would have come up with a post that in your wilted mind would have convinced yourself he was robbed……You have never to my knowledge come on here with a fair and impartial take on a fight with Marq in it……Now you expect after your usual “viva Marquez” drum beat to take you seriously and believe you are impartial……like you are with all the Paq/Marq fights…Your insistence to write words with half capitals in them shows a juvenile streak…

He should retire! He is a HOF. Enjoy the fruit of your work and be thankful you still have a good health. Nothing more to prove you KO Pacman that’s the icing on the cake of your career. You are one of the best!

I identified the specific rounds I scored for Marquez. I absolutely defy You or ANYbody to score 1, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 12 any differently. you want to go the insult route? suit yourself. otherwise, prove that you at least like Boxing and explain your scores to the contrary. i’m not disputing the final verdict, but my OBJECTIVE scorecards produced a different result. withOut the benefit/restrictions of scorecards? i thought Marquez won the Fight and Bradley won the boxing match, which is my same opinion of the Bradley v. Provodnikov. the lasting images of that bout are of Provodnikov SoCKing Bradley the F’k up. similarly but not as dramatically, the lasting images of Bradley v. Marquez are of the stinging shots that Marquez was able to land but not follow-up on. in fact, Bradley was spared, if not saved, by the bell a couple of times when Marquez was getting the better of him in the inside exchanges. that’s a sober, honest, and accurate assessment of the bout. no need to agree. simply concede that i’m right.

The prince said “Marquez should have retired after his KO win over Manny. As the saying goes “you’re only as good as your last fight.” Now Marquez’ thunder has been silenced since losing to Bradley, and a lot of people didn’t like how he cried robbery afterwards. In his current situation, I see him facing Manny a fifth time and being beaten into retirement.”

So now your saying he will get beaten in to a retirement by PAC but I thought you said Marquez his number and I didn’t think you think PAC is that good …? Or is this the pre escuse
Of yours to say that now Marquez is old and to try and tarnish PAC win if he fights him again ?

any objective scorer of this bout had it a solid Draw. i gave Marquez the final four rounds, one, and six. moreover, he Could’ve and Should’ve done more, but he didn’t, which is the primary reason for the crap road-decision. Bradley did just enough to compete, rebuff, and counter Marquez’s assaults, which earned him the hometown nod. not a “robbery”. nonetheless, watching a 40-year-old featherweight competing and dinging an undefeated (if not the biggest) welterweight in his absolute prime was a worthwhile spectacle. Marquez is gonna have to decide whether providing this spectacle is worth chipping away at his overall ring-legacy. IF he insists on continuing, Mathysse at 140lbs or Gamboa at 135lbs for his overdue baptism of ATGreatness would be the high note to end his ATG career . . . win or lose.

Boy this writer is trying to act as if Marquez wasn’t really beat by Bradley. Well anyone with a decent head on their shoulders don’t have a problem with tell the truth to themselves. I’m a long time Marquez fan I have followed as much of his career as i possibly could. I’ve alway liked the way he fought, but I could see this loss coming. Nacho is the major reason for Marquez crying about this loss, I think Nacho’s eyes are going. He kept telling Marquez he was winning the fight when it seemed to be clear to most watching that Marquez was not throwing enough and landing enough to be leading. Then we have the fans that dislike Bradley the perpetuate the situaton by acting like Marquez won when we all know and saw what happened. This seems to be the real problem with boxing when the favorite fighter doesn’t win people cry foul when there is none.

Posted October 15, 2013 9:57 pm

Marquez wasn’t “robbed.” He was out boxed, hence the name of the sport — boxing.

Posted October 15, 2013 9:16 pm

Marquez should not retire. He just lost to a better boxer in Tim Bradley. Marquez needs a brawler, not a boxer, to excel. Rios or Provodnikov would be perfect opponents, or he could give Pacquiao fits again. Whatever he decides, one thing is for sure — HoF inductee!

Posted October 15, 2013 9:14 pm

You’re only 40 yrs old and still one of the BEST out there Juan. Don’t let SISSYFIED dummies persude you into retirement. You hopefully have at least 35 yrs left of your LIFE left. As long as you’re still the BEST come back and KEEP making that money. KEEP facing Fighters and your legacy will continue to grow. You were ROBBED. IF you face a guy that Fights there will be no robbery because the guy will be knocked out.

Posted October 15, 2013 9:13 pm

Marquez should fight in his native Mexico or China on Mexican Holidays and take it easy, I’m pretty sure Bob Arum can still milk these Old Cash Cow.

Posted October 15, 2013 8:45 pm

Marquez is actually a pretty decent Boxer but he’s a MUCH better Fighter. He doesn’t need to retire. He needs to stick to facing Fighters. IF he faces a B level Fighter like Rios he’d WIN that by spectacular knockout. Bradley KNEW that he couldn’t Fight with Marquez SO he mainly stuck to Boxing. When he tried to mix in some Fighting he was on the verge of getting knocked out. He is MUCH improved though. I will give him credit for that. He’s one of the BEST Boxers in the Sport based on his last performance. He’s the 2nd BEST Boxer at Welter but the gap between #1 and #2 is still WIDE.

Posted October 15, 2013 8:19 pm

Marquez is crying that retirement talk to generate sympathy. He wants to hear all Mexicans crying “oh please don’t, please don’t.” Pacquiao made this guy into a legend by fighting him like an idiot. Box him a bit and look how clumsy he is.

Posted October 15, 2013 8:18 pm

JMM will not retire. He will be back, I hope with less complaints, and take on another payday. He has too much pride to go out now and he has not been beaten badly so why not dance one more time.

Pride can blind you at times so we shall see how this plays out for all of us here on the forum.

If anyone was robbed it was Bradley. He was robbed of a unanimous decision.

Posted October 15, 2013 6:28 pm

Ped Man Marquez needs to go away now before he continues to ruin his already tainted reputation. Since the Ped Punch that knocked Manny Pacquiao, his attitude has spiraled out of control. He claims to have know nothing about Angel Hereida then changes his story a few days later. He then runs away from a 5th fight and the biggest pay day of his life because as he says, he wants to continue to have the feeling of beating Manny Pacquiao after Manny gave him more than enough deserving rematches and made him rich and famous. Ped Man Marquez then cries, cries and cries about how he was robbed against Timothy Bradley, and how he’s been robbed 6 times. He needs to win by KO in Las Vegas or he won’t win because the judges go against him. Those Peds sure have screwed up this man’s brain. Ped Man Marquez needs to retire for good and go out with some dignity. He’s losing more and more respect from fans and boxing peers every time he opens his mouth. Nacho must have taken a few shots himself by agreeing with him. Ped Man Marquez needs to take a few lessons from Manny Pacquiao. Manny has handled losses with class, dignity, respect and honor. He knows that in boxing anything can happen and it always does. He doesn’t go around blaming everyone for his loss. he accepts it and moves ahead. Come Ped Man, please stop whining like a little girl and man up. You lost, accept it and retire for good. Next month we get to see the triumphant return to the ring by arguably the greatest fighter of all times, Manny Pacquiao. And we won’t have to worry about Manny crying or whining after the fight is over.

I didnt see the fight but heard Chris John won relatively convincingly, is this correct?

This is totally different to what i”ve said in the past but,, I think Marquez shoulf NOT retire,He gave Bradley a good fight and i’d like to see it again.
Bradley did not make him look follishor outclassde him at all, Marquez was in it all the way and in my opinion beat Bradley. Fight on Marquez, fight on… PEACE…

Posted October 15, 2013 6:03 pm

He’s done.

Posted October 15, 2013 5:52 pm

flash knock down

Funny how just after destroying Manny and everyone calling Marquez the badest man on the planet now they want him to retire he should have retired after Floyd killed him.

Posted October 15, 2013 5:04 pm

Truth be told

JMM has never lost a fight, excluding Mayweather, that wasn’t debatable, Pac never beat JMM outright and Bradley certainly didn’t either. Marquez’ has the right disagree if it’s a SPLIT decision to a guy that never committed to a punch and ran all night. At least Pacquiao came to fight.

Posted October 15, 2013 4:59 pm

He should so he’ll stop crying about everything.

Posted October 15, 2013 4:44 pm

Joekidd, you’re right, the guy doesn’t have an ounce of class in him.

Posted October 15, 2013 4:42 pm

Go to sleep already. Sweet dreams about the Pacquiao KO. What’s even worse than a runner or a boring fighter is a crybaby. Hope to god Pacquiao doesn’t fight this fart again. You absolutely know there will be an excuse regardless of how he loses.

Posted October 15, 2013 4:33 pm

Yes he should, if he doesn’t, he’ll keep losing; he didn’t look 40 against Tim, he looked 60.

Posted October 15, 2013 4:27 pm

Fight Aficionado

Ugh. Every time a boxer loses it’s time for a retirement party. I don’t think so.

Posted October 15, 2013 4:06 pm

Marquez is still a great fighter its just that Bradley is that badass i personally think he has a couple fights left just please no rematch with either pacman or badley go back down to jr welterweight and if you lose stop being such a sore loser!

Posted October 15, 2013 3:19 pm

Noooo, I think he should fight khan early next year and rebuild his reputation by walking through khan, if khan beats him then he should probably think of retiring lol

Posted October 15, 2013 3:09 pm

If every time you went to work, you earned at least 1 million dollars, would you retire?. You wouldn’t ask “How many fights I have left in me?”, You ask ,”How many millions am I willing to give up?”.

I personally think he’s done……….

Brazilian Boxing Fan

I think the time is right for him to retire… By the way, I think he should have retired when he KO´d Manny Pacquiao. It would have been perfect, retire with his last fight being a victory over his greatest rival. I am a fan of Marquez and hope he retires now.

Posted October 15, 2013 2:48 pm

I think so, BUT, if he chooses to fight on…he better go back down to 135.

Posted October 15, 2013 2:43 pm

It’s Me, Ernie

He was given up on several times in the past…

Posted October 15, 2013 2:38 pm

Yes, he has done a lot in the sport. Now all he is risking is his health. The fighters at 147 are just a bit to big for him.
