BTW, sore loser Beristein needs to direct his grief at the judges, not Bradley. All Tim did was fight. He didn’t score the bout.

Posted October 15, 2013 10:03 am

Beristein is really a snake. He said of Timothy, “He’s a very good fighter. Not only is he a good fighter, he’s very lucky. He’s the only undefeated fighter with two losses.”

Just think, Marquez is the only undefeated fighter with seven losses.

Yeah, Amir Khan deserves a fight with Mayweather right? How Did Cinnabum earn a shot at Mayweather.. who had Cinnabum fought better then Paquiao, The Russian and MarPeds??? 140lb Josesito Lopez?? LOL

Bradley does not deserved a Mayweather fight, Floyd will humiliated him big time. As far as Marquez is concern, at 40 years old he should just retire. The guy has beaten his main nemesis but hearing his whining every time he got beat just gets old after a while. The dude is just a sore loser.

MOONSHINE/ANONY Leo Santa Cruz is awesome fighter! he’s set to fight an Island kid, Cesar Seda late this year. Seda’s dad is my friend and I know Cesar rather well BUT.. I don’t like his chances too well at all. Seda just plain doesn’t hit hard enough to offset Santa Cruz. It might be interesting for a while, basically due to Santa Cruz’ high output and feverishly working the body but Santa Cruz will eventually take over and be the dominant by the time the encounter reaches the midway point.

Still gulping down Orlando Jizz-Shakes?.. Cruz was gulping from one end and being injected from the other but it made no difference.. He’s still just a PR A-list fighter.. That’s not enough against a Mexcian B-list fighter.. Boy ended up on all fours gagging on Salido’s wood… Did you console him under your Junito-blanket?..

There was absolutely nothing close about this was almost as lop sided as the Canelo beat down at the hands of PBF.. Bradley boxed and pummeled Marquez all night long… it should’ve been a unanimous decision.. no way Marquez won more then 3 rounds.. no way..

I believe Garcia will be his toughest opponent.

That’s it…, 50-0 and Floyd quits… It could happen.

I think the sad TRUTH is boxing is a not a professional sport but a game run by crooks for the masses. Hell we can’t even agree on how tomscore a bout nevermind on whose a champ or the best. everything is just opnions and we all know what Clint Eastwood said about opinions.

It is sad fact but it is time to say the truth – that is that Mexicans cannot box.

This is evident and simple for all to see. They are worse than USA who cannot even win any medal anymore.

I think this is because Mexico is not a proper country and has nutrition deficit and major industry is drugs.

Eastern Europe is new king, with major industry of making fighters.

Maybe Bradley himself doesn`t need to become a cash cow -if it isn`t happening by now I don`t think it ever will.

If he keeps winning though, then more popular fighters will find they have to go through him or lose credibility.

Posted October 13, 2013 8:02 pm

The Prince, Bradley is not really a cash cow for Arum, so maybe he will want to cash him out against Mayweather.

That Emmanuel Augustus fight was pretty amazing, showing the “other” blueprint for beating Floyd,i.e. slipping & throwing combinations instead of blocking and throwing single shots. I should say “blueprint for whoever can execute it”!

The Prince

Bradley may find a way to win, but Floyd goes in the ring knowing he’s going to win. Floyd by UD in an Emmanuel Augustus like boxing match up. However, that fight won’t happen unless Bradley leaves Top Rank, which he won’t do. He made a deal with the devil (Arum) to get that decision over Manny, and now Bob owns him. If Pacquiao comes back strong against Rios (which he will) then there will be a rematch with Bradley, which Bradley will win and retire Manny. Bob Arum is trying to make up for Mayweather leaving him, but making Bradley his replacement.

Turns out that man-jizz isn’t the remedy for the seemingly permanent fade-out of PR boxing.. No matter how much Cruz gulped down.. Public Enema’s CRUSHED… All that solidarity for the past couple of months and all he’s got to show for it is a raw pair of knees and a somewhat improved complexion…

Fight Aficionado

Sounds like Bradley won a legit close decision for once judging by the media reports. Good for him. I actually was a fan of his for a few years after he won his first title. Even though he doesn’t have a KO punch he’s a pressure fighter who gives his full effort each time out. Lomachenko is a sick fighter but they’re crazy if they want to have him fight for a title in his 2nd bout. Top Rank wants to throw him in with Rigondeaux in 2014? Absurd, unless Top Rank is about to file for bankruptcy.

Marquez can’t know how to beat slick boxers who boxes in the fight like Bradley. They only m ake Marquez looked ordinary.

Posted October 13, 2013 4:31 pm

Bradley made Marquez looked ordinary. If JMM is considered by many as among the skilled boxers around, then Bradley must stand tall above him in that department. The Bradley legend continues….

What is James Slater talking about? Poor officiating? Give me a break. Slater needs to comment about the one judge who gave the fight to Marquez. What was this judge smoking or drinking? Bradley clearly beat Marquez and the referee did a great job. Marquez only won three rounds. Kudos to Bradley on a great win after getting a gift against Pacquiao.

Posted October 13, 2013 3:28 pm

Remember that it took 4 fights for JMM to get Pacquaio timed enough to land that KO blow, and during those previous 3 fights he lost a lot of rounds on the basis that the more active guy moving, coming in and out and creating the exchanges tends to get rounds.

JMM is a legend, first ballot HOF, he is an absolute great, but he has to accept that he employs a style that gives judges a licence to take rounds off him.

He isn`t going to stand at the very top of the mountain for the rest of his career, so it is a matter of how he enjoys the view one step down from the top.

I`d like to see him get one more nice cashout win – maybe KO Khan.

Posted October 13, 2013 3:17 pm

TUMBO I’ll wholeheartedly agree that Marquez should campaign in the 140Lb division. He’s been in welters basically because that’s where the $$ was. Marquez vs Matthysse?? hmmm.. Sounds good or.. how about Marquez vs Danny Garcia?? Although with a remote possibility of a Floyd fight ahead, that one, as good as it sounds and would sell, could be considered unlikely for now or ever. Ya know, maybe a win over a ‘name’ like Marquez would assure him that coveted vs Floyd fight that all fighter$ dream of. Marquez probably won’t be around too much longer, a couple of fights maybe. Paz Carnal.

Bradley is top notch, I think I need to repeat this so that smoe on this sight would understand, Bradley is top notch. He beat 3 very tough fighters in his last three fight, Bradley’s not blowing them away but who is. People say give Pacquioa a rematch Bradley probably wont make believers out of people but would beat Pacquoia again. I look forward to watching Bradley do his thing again in the ring. To all of the haters out there why don’t you guy go find a lovely bridge, a really high lovely bridge and jump. Until Bradley get beat or retire his is the man, and all of the hating in the world wont change that. The only thing that can change his status is the man across the ring from him that finally hands him his first loss.

Posted October 13, 2013 2:08 pm

Marquez acted like a little b**ch as did his trainer. Most would have fired back and called the duck a duck, but Bradley is too cool and classy for that nonsense. Bradley shouldn’t grant that jerk a rematch, because all that would happen is Marquez would keep trying and perhaps after 10 or 20 matches, he would get the nod and claim his superiority over Bradley. Sound familiar??? Good job Bradley – not simply for beating a future HOV – but for being a class act which can only do good for the sport of boxing.

PEEJ, i don’t think Bradley’s movement was too much for Marquez but it was a deciding factor. primarily because it diminished exchanges, which when they did happen, favored Marquez who did land the heavier punches. IMO, Bradley looked and fought better but Marquez provided the tension and danger. ultimately, Marquez can only catch and KO fellow feathers like Pacquiao* at welter. otherwise, he’s simply too small to consistently deal with full-fledged welters. even relatively smaller and light-hitting ones like Bradley. at which point, the additional advantage of movement becomes decisive. IF Marquez insists on continuing, he should not go above 140lbs ever again. in fact, I wouldn’t mind watching a final Cinco de Mayo hurrah with Marquez v. Mathysse @ 140lbs.

Btw, for better or worse, Bradley wins the “Money” sweepstakes. he’s also undefeated including “Ws” v. JMM and his fans are a bunch of crybabies. Every time he loses its because of a robbery in his and their opinions. The only loss he truly acknowledged was against Floyd and thats only because he got completely dominated. In that case he complained Floyd ran too much. Grow up and take a loss like a man and stop the delusions.

Any particular reason Slater makes ethnicity an issue or uses nick names for dramatic effect?

Posted October 13, 2013 1:18 pm

“As for Marquez, it’s tough to see where he goes from here, although he may well demand a return with Bradley, feeling as he does that he deserved the win.”

This is how Arum will use Bradley/Marquez to sidestep Mayweather. yet again, or any GBP fighter, refusing to make a fight that needs to be made. Naturally Timothy will want to fight Floyd. But Arum will dangle a huge wad of cash in their faces (Marquez and Bradley) then make the rematch. Meanwhile, and as planned, Floyd will be fighting someone else because their schedules clash.

Personally, I don’t want to see a Marquez/Bradley rematch because I honestly feel it would be holding Bradley back. Marquez needs to move on, get out of the rematch business and stay out of it. Or retire.

Bradley has now beaten two marquis names–Pacquiao and Marquez–and has clearly proven that he should be next in line to fight Mayweather. I mean really, Robert Guerrero got the shot by beating Berto and Aydin. B.F.D. Bradley has faced two Hall of Famers and ATGs–while they’re still at the top of the heap.

Meanwhile, if the rematch doesn’t happen right away, we’ll get to hear Marquez moan and groan over the next three years about how he beat Bradley and should have got the win, and Nacho Beristan, will once again, be harping about the only way Marquez will get a fair shake from the judges is by knocking Bradley out.

God, please do NOT let Bradley and Marquez fight four times. Not even two.
Thank you.

Was surprised how that fight turned out. I had it 7to5 115-113 Bradley. He fought the smart fight, very similar to what Floyd did against Marquez. Just not a sharp defensively and less punching power. But that is the key to success against Marquez. We shall see where he goes from here

Posted October 13, 2013 1:10 pm

The fight went just as I predicted. Would that mean I’m better than Boxtradamus in predicting fights? LOL. Poor guy…he must be losing his karma!!!

There’s a time for everything and it’s time for Marquez to consider either retirement, going down to 140 or to his natural 135 pound division. He’s a bloated 147 fighter and it’s obviously difficult for him to fight a moving target at that weight, or perhaps at any other of the weights I just mentioned. He still has power and can give a guy his size lots of problems, but due to his age and style he must depend on the mistakes of his opponent. Smart fighters will fight him from the outside and make him move forward on slow legs.

He’s a counterpuncher, which in itself is a good attribute, but needs his opponent to come to him…as did Pac. Though many of you criticized Bradley for moving around and picking his shots, whether you want to admit it or not, that was the correct strategy. I mentioned it weeks before the fight; “Marquez’ age will show on this fight” and it did.

Having said that, neither he nor his fans should feel shame for losing the fight. Marquez has proven time and time again that he’s one of the smartest fighters of this era. He is one of my favorite fighters and his career shows the attributes that many fighters should emulate. He gave Pac his run for his money, and then some, during their five encounters and in at least one of the fights, Pac used the weight of Juan to his advantage. This happened when Pac told Cotto he could not fight him at 147 because he (Pac) couldn’t make the weight, but soon after he told Marquez to come from 135 and fight him at 147 because he (Pac) couldn’t fight below that weight.

On the other hand, I feel for Bradley. He reminds me of the late Rodney Dangerfield…”no respect”. Pac fans, like Hecdog will never forgive him for beating their idol and criticize him every moment they can. He’s criticized for going toe to toe against Provodnikov and now for boxing and moving against Marquez…”damned if you do, damned if you don’t”.

I’m not a fan of his, however, he’s got my respect. He hasn’t lost a fight and as much as others want to point that Pac was robbed; it’s and will always be an official win on his record. He made Alexander the Great pretend he couldn’t see so the referee would stop the fight, and that’s when Alexander was the man at 140. He’s a determine fighter who works hard at his craft and that in itself should be commendable. If a fighter like Chris Arreola would work just half as hard as Bradley does, he would be a champion today.

I’ll say bring Pac for the rematch after Pac dispatching of Rios…I’m sure the result would be much different and Bradley will win by a big margin. I doubt Pac would want to fight him again though…too little to win and too much to lose.

The Mad Scientist

This was a bad style match up to begin with..difficult fight to score..I would’ve scored it a draw since there wasn’t a dominant victor in this fight but I have no problem with Bradley getting the nod..Tim Bradley remains without a clear cut win against top competition, we’ll see where both men go from here..

Bradley fought a smart fight, he took Marquez’s punches pretty well, and seemed to have made a full recovery from the Provodnikov fight. Marquez should be content with his great career, and hang up his gloves unless he wan’t to go out on an even lower note. Still though since Marquez thinks he won the fight, he’ll probably be back.

Posted October 13, 2013 12:27 pm

srminimo- of course there is. My point is that one can’t assume that all “Mexican Fight Fans” were rooting for Marquez or Canelo. Ask anyone who lives in a Mexican community. Many root for either side. Secondly, Mexican Fight Fans and Mexican boxers are the ones keeping this sport alive and have the biggest influence. Just look at a non-Mexican event and it’s PPV numbers. IF it even makes PPV. Without Mexicans this sport would be even more of a whisper compared to MMA. This sport would be as good as dead. And don’t gimmie the crap about the big fighters who aren’t Mexican cause they NEEDED a Mexican to earn that spot. If it weren’t for guys like DLH and Canelo, Mayweather wouldn’t have broken ANY PPV records LOL. Bad spell for Marquez/Canelo supporters. Good spell for boxing as a whole which Latinos as a whole keep alive

IMO Bradley didn’t dominate the truly smaller and older JMM like a true champ should have,,,ala PFM did at 147lbs,,JMM is no welter,,I scored the fight a draw,,neither guy did enough to win clearly,,it was obvious that Bradley was scared to get hit from a natural 135lbs champ,,which means the mental ill effects from the Ruslan fight are permanent,,Nacho was correct when he said Bradley is the only undefeated fighters with losses,,JMM should go back down in weight or retire, JMM has been a Great Champ,,,Peace

Bradley beat a boxer without PED’s last night. Good thing Bradley was smart enough to FORCE Marquez to take a test during his training camp. He look nothing like a few months ago when he fought Paquiao. Marquez should not be in the boxing hall of fame for using PED’s..

uhhhh… “Bad spell”?? Well… if you wanna consider the recent PPV fights well then, yes. BUT.. on a whole, NO!! Let’s not forget Salido’s title winning demolition of Cruz. Yeah, that one was predictable but let’s not overlook other recent lesser profiled fights where the Mexican/Mex American fighters have triumphed in impressive fashion. Ya can’t win’em all. No I’m not a Mexican fight fan, only a fight fan that admires fighters in general from anywhere. I’ve been a Marquez fan for a long, long while and had a bad feeling about this one. My heart was with Marquez but putting my sentiments aside, my head said Bradley. I wanted Cruz (whom I’ve known for years) to defeat Salido, too but I knew that wasn’t going to happen. Sometimes picking the correct winner gives you NO reason to enjoy being right, right? Oh well…

Im not sure which fight you guys watched. Bradley was the clear winner. Worked behind his jab all night. The jab got him the win. Maybe Marquez wins if you only count power shots which Marquez never landed cleanly on Bradleys head. Marquez landed some good body shots that was about the most he did. Bradley did a great job turning and slipping Marquez head shots. He out worked Marquez and worked his jab all night.

Ped Man Marquez is his usual self, whining, crying, complaining about he was robbed of a victory for the 6th time in his career. Not only did his Ped mix not work, but he shows his true character in defeat. He’s always been one of boxing sore losers. Ped Man Marquez needs to accept defeat, give Bradley all the credit and RETIRE! He’s done enough harm to boxing by hiring Angel Hereida, and tarnished the purest sport in the world. Congratulations to Bradley, which by the way lost me some money since I had picked Pe Man Marquez to win by ko. Oh well, Angel mus have changed the mix since Ped Man Marquez had a bit of roid rage towards Hereida during his last workout. Now, let’s get ready for the most anticipated boxing come back in history. Yes, “Manny Pac” Man Pacquiao returns to carry boxing on his shoulders.

CurlyQ.-You have a valid post, but I can also see a Provodnikov rematch going totally different from the first fight, Seeing how Provodnikov gave him so much trouble while trying to mix it up with him, I can see Bradley staying clear of Provo’s power and schooling him by outboxing him from the outside behind a very active jab. After all, this is normally been the historical trend of a “boxer vs banger” rematch after the banger had won or given the boxer serious trouble in the first fight. A few examles of this are: Leonard/Duran, Norris/Brown, Mayweather/Castillo, Cotto/Margacheato and most recently Alvarado/Rios. So as much as Provo deserves a rematch, I se it following the trend of history schooling with Bradley schooling Provo with a Boxing clinic from outside.

Bradley beat an old man last night and won on the cards but not the fans. Still an unworthy champion who didn’t beat Pacquiao or the Russian guy. He out pointed JMM but that was it. It was a fight Bradley couldn’t win. Nobody really cares to fight him cause he doesn’t bring a gate or a name to the table. It’s Mayweather, and well nothing else.

Posted October 13, 2013 10:41 am

Ruslan Provodnikov is the fighter that I’d like to see get a rematch with Bradley. I doubt that it will ever happen, but it was an exciting fight, and Provodnikov and his fans have every reason to believe that he could win a rematch. As many times as Bradley went staggering backwards – bouncing off the ropes which kept him from hitting the canvas, I have to believe that Provodnikov will stop Bradley given another opportunity.
